anyone have axle spec for Lonestar?
I have had a nightmare trying to get accurate specs for the Currie axle fitted to the Lonestar Cobra.
Lonestar pointed me at Currie who in turn pointed me back to Lonestar. Lonestar advised me to order the standrad axle that Currie supply to Lonestar. Currie seem to think there is no such thing as a 'standard Lonestar axle' but were happy to proceed with the spec as per the latest order from Lonestar. The result of all this is that I now have the axle detailed below on order for cutting early next week. 31 spline Standard Ford 5/12 bolt pattern Tapered bearing 2.5 inch offset 26.028 inch length New style large bearing (Torino) 2.800 registered diameter Upon removing the existing axle this morning I count 28 splines and something far shorter than a 26 inch axle (more like 22). So, has anyone else had to go through this process and if so is there a standard spec and if so what its it? Pulling my hair out here! Thanks, Paul |
I have the Currie Lone Star 31 spine BIG axel rear end.
I have the new style Torinio bearings with a 4:56 gear set. What do you want to know? Yes, one side is shorter than the other. Yes, the total width is like 50 inches ( I think, I can measure what you need ) Mine is powder coated Black. That menas I had to ream the bolt hols to get the bolts through. PM me if you need help. |
trularin- I have 331 gears with a Tremec TKO. What tranny are you using with the 356 gear ? I would like to step up but, first gear is fairly short now, what is yours like ? Also, in 5th gear I'm running 2,000 rpm's, what's yours ?
