NYS Inspection stations
Does anyone know of an inspection station friendly to FFR's in Nassau County.
I need an inspection and the guy I brought it to told me I need a full safety/emission , that I need cats on a crate motor (351W). I was told by our friend in Albany that I only needed a Safety inspection. Which is correct? Where to go? Thanks everyone. Bob S. |
How old is the car?
If it is just on the road - first inspection it gets a sniff test - no cats Is it registered as a Custom and the year built -? (Custom 2009) when it is inspected it gets put in with this special class My first inspection I called the tech guys in Albany and had them talk to the guy doing the inspection - Or show up at Classic Concepts in West Babylon any Saturday morning and talk to Nick the owner or any one of the Cobra Club members for more info. |
This would ne the very first inpsection after Vin is assigned, car will be registered as a 2009 custom vehicle.

What happens after the first inspection, no sniff test?
|
According to Tom in Albany, the car is registered as a 2009 custom. on 2009 cars their is no sniff test first two years, after that it is required to pass a "curb idle test" this means a probe in the pipe and it must pass standards of 1979 emmissions. If their is any doubt I would call Tom in Albany to verify.
Hop that helps. Bob Scocca |
