New York State DMV Question.

Hi Guys , Im looking at Superformance in Texas with a ( Texas certificate of title ) Will NY dmv take this ? or do i have to start from the beginning take to state inspection place let them check out car , to get the yellow sticker.
Also does this apply do other states too.

If it has a title it should already have a VIN. It should be just like registering an out of state car. Best person to answer this would be Tom Noonan in Albany DMV..

Tom's number is 518-474-5252. He's a good man and on our side.

Flip a coin, sometimes yes, sometimes no. A Superformance from Michigan had the Michigan title rejected ny NYS last Spring as it "didn't have a 17 digit VIN" so NY DMV inisisted on assigning a new NYS VIN.....which doesn't have 17 digits either! Required the whole registration process just like with a roller, from scratch.

Luck of the draw....................

As Mark IV says, it can go either way. Definitely plan on having to go through the entire NYS "custom" inspection process and if somehow you don't, you will be one of the few!

I would call Tom in Albany, and he WILL help you out, but he cannot guarantee that you won't have to start all over with a new VIN for NYS.

Try to transfer the registration/title first at your local (friendly if possible) DMV. If you are in upstate NY, let me know and I will try and help if possible.

And an excellent choice with a Superformance :-)

I appreciate this information as well. I have moved from NH to NY and now have to register my Cobra tribute. I'm hoping that it will be relatively pain free.
