Looking for a motorcycle shop on L.I...

Does anyone know of a motorcycle shop on L.I. that is good with older British bikes (Triumph, specifically)?

I need some chassis and gearbox work... and I am getting turned down by too many places.

I've got an amazing mechanic here in Canada. He does all the work on my Bonnie and Commando! Same story here, very difficult to find anyone who will work on these bikes and know what he is doing! I know this doesn't help you much, but I know what you are going through. I got lucky last year, when I met a guy who collected Brit bikes. He told me of his mechanic and that is how I came to meet him. I had gone through other Brit bike mechanics before, and it is next to impossible to find someone who actually knows what they are doing. The dual carbs seems to be the most difficult thing for these guys!

You might want to trt Ghost Motorcycles in Port Washington. I think Sal is still around or Sonny. They are located on lower main street.

Ron, Dick at the cycle shop on Forest Ave. in Glen Cove is a very meticulous mechanic and is pretty well known around the vintage BMW crowd but I know he works on other marquees. I'll try and get his number today and PM you.
