Nero Fiddled While Rome Burned...

I am moderately in favor of some kind of nationalized health care but am having an increasingly hard time understanding why both sides of the aisle seem to have forgotten (words being cheap) just how bad things remain in the economy.

Open to the idea that this means I have reached the old fahrt stage of my life, but commercial toxic assets are just about ready to land and nobody in the government seems willing or able to acknowledge this next wave.

Again, likely I am just an old fahrt....:D

The politicians, both sides, are flapping their lips about health care. But the whole discussion is about INSURANCE REFORM not health care reform. The Feds want to take over insurance regulations. For as long as anyone on this board has been alive, AND LONGER, insurance has been totally regulated by State politicians. Who they can and cannot insure, how much they can charge, how much PROFIT they can make, where they can write policies, what they can and cannot do with premiums collected, what they can put in a policy or leave out, and much, much more. Has BEEN and is today COMPLETELY, regulated by politicians. This has been true for all of our lifetimes.
It should be obvious to all what a fine job the politicians have done.
