video sunglasses
So, I was at a hunting store over the weekend, and there was a table out front that had this video playing. I looked closer and saw they had used a pair of sunglasses with an integrated video camera - http://predatoroutdoorproducts.com/index.html I bought it to A) take videos when hunting and B) while in the Cobra. Found out with today's video that the sound quality is bad, too much wind noise, may try to put something over the mic to see if that helps. I expect the hunting video to be better as there won't be much wind noise and not shake as much. Still, pretty cool I thought. If you click on the HQ button or the video it will be a higher quality.

Hmmm, noticed your dash mirror. Clear.
All I ever saw was vibrating blur! Thought thats just the way it is. Side bullet was OK, but the dash--useless. |
Dont let your insurence man see that video..........
you did 2 california stops at 2 different stop signs, you blew through a yellow light and you turned on the right hand side of a car that was turning left......... remind me to never ride with you....your nuts..... oh by the way nice car and cool video............you nut. |
Yikes! I could become a porn star! (or producer might be better)
|
:D Bob, you missed the U-turn :D The lady I turned in on the right side was completely blocking my lane, turning left no less. Did you notice the head shake side to side :) Will find out how it works in the field Saturday, hunting Pheasants. I may not want to see my misses.

i didnt miss the u turn, i just figured the head shake was oldtimers disease.......
remember the round thing on the end of the rifle faces away from you...........blast away |
I found an on-line seller... $199. I wonder if they are "sweat proof"? My dealings with the i-pod shuffle was very annoying. Marketed as a device for "active people", made it sound ideal for running. It was not. If this could survive running (and I doubt it) it would be great for my trail runs!

Mike, I don't see anything that would be affected by sweat. It appears to be pretty well sealed. I don't know how it would do on a runner, seems it would be a lot of bouncing.
|
I did a search and found black ones for $179.00. Then the guy e-mails me back and asks if I want to be a vendor for him. He is on SOCAL and I am in NORCAL.
|
I would not use it when running. Just stop to get some video and move on.
I have to wear glasses anyways (summer). Question is, how heavy. Also, if it is not water proof (to some min depth), it will not be sweat proof. Mike |
I watched some of the video. It definitely shows the effects of a pinhole camera (you can see the aperture in the imagery). But I am telling you, it is good enough for what I want to do! I will get one next year.

I believe the specs say 7 ounces. I found them to not be much heavier than a good pair of Ray Ban's. Since they came out as mainly for Sport/hunting applications, I would think they are somewhat water resistant. Mike, If you watched the video on their website, yes, you can see the aperture, but not in the video I made. Excited about using them for the pheasant hunt tomorrow.
|
Almost a half of a pound? If you look at the predator link above, it says 39g which is a little over one ounce.
So you have a pair? Do the instructions warn about water? Looking forward to your "review"! BTW, the aperture affect should be more pronounced in lower light conditions. The more light there is, the more those dark rings will rise up in amplitude. Most pinhole cameras demonstrate this effect, it is not unexpected and what you do to get from the camera appears to outweigh that issue. I think I want one. Mike |
Mike (bomelia), you have a PM.

Sorry, don't know what I read to come up with 7 ounces - 39grams per below. I have the black one's. Hope to post a video tomorrow night of my pheasant hunt. The post above didn't show an arperture effect. Anyway, they are serving the purpose I bought them for :)

Did you pay $179 or $199?
|
Mike,
I did not buy them. I just noted what I found on a search and inquiry. |
Here are a couple of videos from Putnam last weekend. Sound isn't the greatest, but I'm pleased with the video quality. I found they are hard to get on and off with a helmet on.

Looks like the Samsung DVR chip. I've got this same thing in a pen type spy camera. (I sell the 8gb high def pens in my stores for $85)
The audio is rather marginal even in a non-noisy enviroment. You can also get these as gum pack or keychain setups. (No Jamo, no shoe cams.):p If they have the mode enabled you should be able to take JPEGs as well. |
