Colleen Powell said he needed to pick less battles months ago.

My guess is that Obama came in to office when not only our econemy was/is in the tank and as all people say when they are trying to get elected " I WILL FIX IT, I WILL FIX EVERYTHING AS I AM GOD". Not a quote of course but that is what they all say no matter what party they are from.

He has not fixed it. It "might" seem like he has put a small bandaid on it, but it is not fixed. Therefore his rating will continue to fall until when/if he can actually do it.

The "might" for me could be because I still have a job. For the people that are unemployed (that actually want to work) would probably contest me on that.

He, they the Dems thought the stars were in align.

Like McCain/Palin COULD have fixed it? Like THEY would create new jobs out of thin air? Like THEY would have stabilized the economy and brought prosperity back in a YEAR?

Dream on, that is some fantasy world you guys live in... :)

Ron, to answer the question, it's the economy. No president past or future could deal with this in a years time. The Great Depression took more than a decade, so will this, IF were lucky.

Ernie, while that may be very true, that is not what he said when he was campaigning for the office of POTUS. He was going to change everything and fix all that was wrong with the world.

Obama and/or his handlers set totally unrealistic objectives. He was bound to fail before he had a chance to even try.

Not saying that they could Ernie. But this thread is not about them is it. It is about Obamas approval ratings.

To expand on your post, I do not think anyone can fix it in a one year period. Not a Republican, a Democrat or even you Ernie.

You cant fix something in a year that it took 30 years to screw up. That includes Republicans and Democrats.

I like to dream BIG myself! :)

Actually, the whole economy thing happened right at the end of the campaign and pretty well took everyone by surprise. While Obama has put to much on his plate for the time being, I say cut him some slack. He's got another 7 years to get-r-done, no hurry. :)

He had slack! A 62% approval rating. He squandered it with a $.9 Trillion pork payoff bill falsely claiming it would do many things and solve some immediate problems. It now is 100% evident it was all a lie and the Stimulus was a pure pork packed pay off.
He further squandered his slack with the Cap N Trade fiasco. If that ever passed, it would make the health care rip off look like chump change and ELIMINATE the Us as a world power.
Had he even got into the education part of his Socialist Trilogy, we might be looking at a recall now instead of disapproval.
He had the slack and blew it like he's blown EVERYTHING he has touched.
Jimmy Carter's smile is even wider now that he is no longer the worst, dumbest, president in modern times.

One big issue facing Obama is the fact some people ACTUALLY believed him. Here's a couple of liberal ex-believers.

The liberals are taking this hard and the polls are showing the results...not just Rasmussen and Gallup.

His failing like most of the political "ruling" class is that they believe they are intellectually superior to us in the "Masses", & their intellectual solutions will be both eventually apparent to all of us and that they will actually work. Which of course they haven't before anywhere.

Excaliber 01-15-2010 04:54 PM

OK, no slack for Obama.

...but he is still going to be here 7 years from now, so, you might want to get used to it. :)

You keep chugging that obummer elixir while it makes you feel good.

You seem, no real proof, but you seem to have a working brain, so maybe before 2012 you TOO will realize had badly the country has been had by this unconscionable liar. His interest in the people of the USA, any of the people of the USA, is zero. His interests are personal aggrandizement and Socialism.

If your eyes don't get opened by then, you are likely to find your elixir going out of stock in Nov. 2012.

Just stating the facts Dan, love him or hate him, fact is, he's here to stay for a second term. I seriously doubt the Repubs will be able to launch a candidate that can successfully challenge the Obama money making and savy political machine.

Just an observation of political reality, not hype in support of some candidate I personally would or wouldn't support. Just a political realitycheck...
