Teleprompeters and the POTUS

Now, this is going too far. If Bush had done this, they would have called him ignorant, stupid, etc. But Barry gets a pass. Yes, Barry, the smartest man to occupy the Whitehouse in over 30 years.

Lol! On the surface, it does seem a bit funny that one would rig up a teleprompter system to deliver a speech to a bunch of little kids, but in reality, all of the presidents used some sort of visual aid when delivering speeches. The only difference is in the method or technology.
Reagan used teleprompters, GW used large index cards. Apparently there is a knack to using teleprompters that some people are just not comfortable with.
Here is an article that sheds some light on the issue:

TelePrompTers to talk to 6th graders in a small classroom??????? STUPID! Or was it collusion with a fawning liberal press for "The Conceited One," to deliver another meaningless , BUT LOOKIN' GOOD, speech to the nation.

Of course, none of you dissenters actually read the story that, after the class stuff, it was an address to the media...who tend to parse every word.

Glad you kids worry about the small stuff and let the grown-ups handle the heavy lifting.
...or, there is always therapy to get you thru these troubled times.

VRM 01-25-2010 02:52 PM

Mike - seriously???

Reading a speech, whether it be from cue cards or a teleprompter, will usually result in something where content and context has been thought out ahead of time.

Perhaps when Bush was in office I should have been complaining about his use of cue cards instead of more substantial things... Was his use of cue cards because he was too simple to understand those words all lit up and hovering in mid-air? Must have been the work of the devil!

Leave it to the morons at the GOP to continually harp on something completely irrelevant and ignore actual policy issues.

If he didn't use a teleprompter and flubbed a single word there would be a GOP bloodbath over his lack of understanding of the English language - something I don't recall you or many other GOP supporters complaining about whenever Bush invented a word. It's 'cute' when your boy does it - it's the end of the world when the guy on the other side of the aisle does it.

Friggin hypocrites...:rolleyes::p

This thread is SO busted for hyperbole about using a teleprompter for talking to school kids! :)

How is it busted? It was a "Buy Obama" commercial in conspiracy with the liberal media to make him look good. Since he had prior knowledge and agreement that the media would carry it, he had to use the teleprompter to avoid another of his extemporaneous speaking gaffs. But as is normal, like the Queen's iPod, the set up became the gaff.

Gaffe. Gaff is what you use to catch fish.

Of course he used it! I would too if 50% of the country was going to damn me if I make a single verbal misstep.

Do you mean Bushisms??:D

Excaliber 01-25-2010 03:34 PM

He's taking his lead from Biden, who could desperately USE a teleprompter. Actually I like Biden without one, he's usually good for a chuckle. Obama? No chuckle there, when he miss speaks he get's blasted. :)

bomelia 01-25-2010 09:16 PM

You closet (and not so closet) Obama lovers (and appologists) give it up. Barry using a teleprompter to talk to 6th graders is silly beyond the pale. Remember, this is the "smartest" president in 30 years. Even though his transcripts (and birth certificate) have never been released.

My guess? Average student with some problem areas.

I smell failed a presidency just around the corner. Before Bush's midterm elections, pundits were predicting negative shifts (which did not occur). Now, they are appologizing for them, and blaming it on Bush (7 times since Brown got elected).

A better predictor in my mind is Steve (VRM) is responding to my posts with hyperbole and feigned indignation.
