Cool new computer
I want one.
|
Looks like they are only available to animated people right now.
|
There was a movie a month or so ago about Cyber Criminals and some of the people had computers that were very similar to that except the power supply wasn't that big and they just folded them up after use. So I have no doubt that one of these days we will see something along those lines.

One of the biggest problems with laptops seems to be at the hinge. Just what I need, 15 more hinged points.

According to this article from a 1954 issue of Popular Mechanics, this home PC is already available (LOL)

The only place I have seen a double wheel like that is on racing sailboats a decade back. Big wheel steered rudder, small wheel trim tab on keel.
What the phuck was this thing supposed to do?--steer the USS Yorktown. |

Did you miss the caption? It says this is what they expect a home computer to look like in the year 2004, but at that time it didn't work because they hadn't invented enough technology to run it. I don't recall seeing any home computers in 2004 that looked like that. Ron :D |
Camping aboard Yorktown with my grandson and his cub scout troop next weekend.
Will look in the bridge. Don't know who is more excited--him or me. Life is sweet |
Now THAT is cool, Maurice.
|
What are those big wheels for?
Wait, don't tell me...hyper drive.  |
Caption also said it would not be economically feasible for most homes to have one.

Maurice ... I live about 2 hrs from Mt Pleasant ( Patriot`s Point ) and have been there several times . That carrier will give everyone a new appreciation of what those men went through . There used to be several planes on display also . I also heard there were supposed to be ghosts on the carrier .... maybe the scouts will see some ?? If not , may make for some good " campfire " story telling anyway .
As big as that ship is , you better keep a tight hold of those kids as you may no find them for a week or two . |

Bobcat is sure right. You can get lost in those Carriers. Yes,there are ghosts on them. |
Just returned to Gainesville Ga. 700 cubs, scouts and families celebrating 100 years of scouting. Even though I am not an American citizen, it was a very humbling experience, which I will never forget.
Slept in the enlisted mens quarters above the hangar deck over the fantail. On the way out this morning, stopped to thank the volunteer veteran at the desk for granting me the privilege of visiting his vessel. He said " Oh, I joined the navy later, in 1943 I was a pilot in B-17s over Germany. I am 88 years old, and I volunteer here for those who can't be here now". It brought tears to my eyes. How can we teach the young people just how much freedom REALLY costs? |
Thanks for sharing that...sounds like it was a great time. :)
