There has been quite a bit of quake activity all around the Pacific. Chile, with that massive 8.8, Mexico, now China. There has been more 4.0 or greater quakes in Southern California so far this year, than all of last year. Get ready for the big one Ron.

Paul, There certainly has been a lot of quake activity along the Pacific Rim the past year. When the big one comes, we may feel it but I am to far inland for it to do a lot of damage unless it should trigger the fault that is south of Shasta Dam and that would basically only affect Redding and on downstream. The mountains between here and the coast make a good buffer, and the main San Andres Fault runs just off the coast once it passes San Francisco. I have walked out into the fields down in that area and looked at the long trenches it has caused to sink in the past years. There is quite a bit of activity going on studying them now and they say that they are starting to spread apart a small bit each year. Edit: There seems to be more of this also. Volcanic ash shuts down air travel. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/eu_iceland_volcano Ron |
