The below collection focuses on The Pacific War, a term referring to parts of World War II that took place in the Pacific Ocean, the islands of the Pacific and the Far East. The start of The Pacific War is generally considered to be the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii on December 7, 1941. The Pacific War pitted the Allies against the Empire of Japan and culminated with the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August of 1945, Victory over Japan Day on August 15, 1945 and the official surrender of Japan aboard the battleship U.S.S. Missouri in Tokyo Bay on September 2, 1945.

Roscoe,

Thanks for posting that. I have a lot of pictures from the Pacific during World War 11 and I hadn't seen a few of those. More keep turning up all the time and I never got to visit all of the islands that I would like to. Standing on some of those places and seeing the rusting guns and tanks left really makes you appreciate what those people went through for us.

Back when war really was hell. Not saying it's not today, but it kind of pales in comparison.

Is anyone watching the HBO show on the Pacific theater? I thought for a while of subscribing but decided I'd just wait for the DVDs.

I set up to record on my DVR. After watching a couple of episodes I got really bored. Could have been better, maybe later episodes are, but I lost interest.
