Day 9
I think I have it beat. Yesterday was the first day that I didn't even think about copenhagen.
It was nice to read all the posts of encouragement (and a couple of PMs also). I think it helped a bit.
Like any other addiction I'll never be totally cured. For now, I'm calling it good though and I don't feel the need for daily updates.
Except for the first day and a perhaps the 2nd day, the process was way easier that I had thought it would be. It makes me wonder why I hadn't done this sooner.
I'm proud to say I'm a "I used to chew" guy now.
Carl
P.S. If anyone else out there is contemplating kicking the nicotine habit I suggest you go for it. It's not that bad and can change your life.

Way to go and good luck to you to keep on abstaining.
I smoked for 40 years+. Couldn't quit no matter what. Tried everything, even had a Doctor [Dentist] friend hypnotize me. He does dental work on kids under hypnosis.
Finally felt this Greyhound bus or maybe it was an M1A1 Abrams sitting on my chest. Drove myself to the ER [not a good idea] and was smoking as I walked through the parking lot. As I approached the ER door I looked at the cigarette, by then I KNEW it was a heart attack, and I flipped the cig away thinking that that was the end of them. After they choppered me to the heart center where they did surgery at 11PM that night and I got out of the hospital a few days later. All desire to smoke was GONE. That was over 11 years ago, haven't had a puff since. But will power, YOUR METHOD, is much wiser the the HA method I needed.
Keep up the will power. Don't let a dirty little can beat you.

Still goin strong Bill. I think about chew once every other day. After a 20 year habit I think thats pretty good.
On an unrelated note, I told my family I quit and didn't end up using all my patches. Yesterday, my brother asked if he could have my 15 or so unused patches so he could try to quit smoking.
It would be sweet if we could both kick the habit in the same month.
Now if I can just talk my mom into quitting. She's been a smoker for 35+ years.

Carl, I'm now 68 years old, and I'm wondering how the hick I got this old? It seems that I spend a lot of time at the doctors with minor things like joint problems etc. At my age I've accepted the fact that our bodies do wear out and that "bad habits" from the past can be trouble now, so giving up something you enjoy to insure better health down the road is well worth it.
Keep up the good work, Bill

I'm still nicotine free and going strong.
The only cravings I get now are when I'm bored.
