computer problem
Hello, I have no audio on my computer, the box says that my speakers are unplugged. I have checked the plug and installed new speakers and I still get the same message. I tried to reboot the system and it is still without audio.
any help? thanks, karl |
Karl,
You may need to download a new driver for the speakers and or external speakers. Go to your computers manufacturers website and see if have a place where you can check for updated drivers. If everything is plugged in on both ends and the external speakers are turned on, then the next thing to check would be the drivers. |
thanks for your reply, I did that step and the box says taht my speakers are not plugged in. Is there a possibliity that something came apart on the inside of the computer tower?
thanks again, karl @ GT |
If so you would have had to have dropped it or bumped it around pretty good.
Is there a reset button on the back of the main speaker? Also, some of the speakers now have seperate woofers. If you dont have the woofer plugged in the little speakers will not work. For example, the woofer would plug into the back of the tower and then the little satelite speakers would plug into the woofer. That is how they work on our Desk top PC. |
Look under control panel for Sound and Audio Devices. There should be something there to control volume and there should also be something that can MUTE your speakers as well.
Make sure that MUTE is not chosen and that the volume is up. |
thanks for the responses, I have tried all of that stuff and still no audio. I have a friend coming over on sat to take a look.
I had a peek inside the tower and there is no seperate sound card that I can see, so I need help. thanks again, karl |
After my last virus bombardment, my computer says that I have speakers plugged in but they will not work (when plugged in from the back). I plugged them into the headphone jack in the front and they work fine from there.
You can try that for a bandaid until it gets fixed. |
thanks for the suggestion, I tried the different plug in and it did not work.
thanks again, karl |
