Congratulations to John Force on another championship

He's also the oldest champion in NHRA history.

Makes you wonder if he will retire and let the kids take over now.

Guess there's no John Force fans here.:o

I always liked John Force. Good to see the ol' troglodyte (Car & Driver or M/T called him that in an article a few years ago) still kicking butt. I don't follow drag racing anywhere near as much as I used to but Force's high energy intensity was always a gas.

The other racer I used to get a kick out of watching was the dude with the white hair and beard whose big-boobed ol' lady used to run bouncing and swinging down the track to give him some love every time he won a race. What was his name again?

That was Eddie Hill and his wife....Ercie I think. Tried to kill himself in drag boat racing way back when...finally moved over to top fuel and still tore some stuff up in his day. I think hes still doing a little exhibition racing now and then.

John Force is the champion of all champions. 15 championships, 25 years with Castrol and he said they signed another 5 yrs earlier in the year. The force team has pioneered so much technology that I dont think the sport would be where its at if it wasnt for him and Austin Coil. The wife and I were exstatic when he won...after the crash in Dallas in 07 I didnt think he would make it back to that level. Im glas I was proven wrong.

John is top notch racer. I'm thinking Ford is probably enjoying this recent championship as well.

Good for him. He is getting up there in age.

John Force is a class act. I live in Yorba Linda and have met John on several occasions. I have toured his facility many times. Amazing!!!!!!!
I saw John after Dallas and I too also thought his racing days were over (fooled us didn't he!)
Congratulations John!!

I do remember Eddie Hill but not his wife. When I think of a funny car driver's wife giving a good "flounce" I always remember Jungle Jim Liberman and his wife Pam. She had one of her great mammies get lose once at Dragway 42, in Ohio, back in the late 60s or early 70s. The crowd was very appreciative. Me too!

Karl - a titillating display to be sure!

Pam's trackside antics no doubt left drag fans with a lot of fond mam - er - memories in her day!

Force is an intriguing guy. He can come on so blustery, then become emotional and real. Search for the Overhaulin' episode where Foose built a yellow school bus for Force and linked it to John's childhood. Force was funny and overwhelmed at the same time. Great TV for a change.

I heard him say in an interview that he may race for five more years before he hangs it up. I thought that this was an amazingly fast recovery from that wreck a couple of years ago. Most people would have quit then.

How have you been Ron? Have not seen you much lately.

For a 61-year-old to be able to pull off a come back in such a demanding sport is amazing!
He should be very proud indeed!

:(

John,

My health has been pretty bad the past three months and I have spent most of my time going to the doctors. One way or the other, I wish it would end. It is raining here this morning so I won't be able to get outside and walk some. Hope that everything is going great with you.

Ron :)

Ron,

Think about you often. Sorry to hear you are having a tough time.
Miss your astronomical insights. Hang in there. :)

Bill Bess 11-23-2010 07:49 AM

Ron, sorry to hear you've been ailin lately, I guess it's part of getting old as I'm finding out myself.
Have a great Thanksgiving holiday and get better soon.
Bill
