Ipod Interface in Your Street Car
FYI
For some time now I have been listening to my music via my Ipod. This worked in my house, while walking and in my wife's car (a newer Ford product with a USB port). The problem was my 2005 Ford did not have any way to play the Ipod. I checked with various shops around town and never felt the radio could be modified without making a mess. Recently I was out on the Crutchfield website and I found a product made by USA-SPEC. The guys at Crutchfield promised it would be a 10 minute installation and would allow me to use my Ipod in my 2005 Focus with no loss of existing functionality. All I would have to do is press the "AUX" button on my stock radio. All of this for only $150. It seemed hard to believe. With some trepidation I ordered the interface. It arrived a few days later and I headed out to the garage to do the installation. The device installed in no time at all. No wires to cut, no grounds to find, it simply used the existing connectors. I ran the Ipod wire into my glove compartment and connected it to my Ipod. It installed so easily I thought I did something wrong. The bottom line is it works just as advertised. All my radio buttons still work and it's great having my tunes while driving around in "Radio Free Vermont". If you're thinking about doing an Ipod addition to your other car consider this unit. Crutchfield is a great source for car audio stuff. I ordered all the stuff for my boat from them and their prices are alot better then going to your local store.

My wife has an itouch and it works with any car radio - just set your radio to the indicated channel and off you go. No special mods required - works in all vehicles so far - new, old, Japanese, European or American. Beats the heck out of changing CD's in the cars with no stacker.

That's the one. Bob |
Our Caddy CTS came with an iPod interface. It also came with a 40G hard drive that you can download the music into. Pretty nice package overall.

Yup...the E550's Harman Kardon comes with the interface/hard drive as well. Most of the mfgs seems to be providing something.
But the problem has been older vehicles...thanks Bob! |
