I have to call Bull Chit on this one.
It's the 1st tool I grab for my dental hobby.

Dremel Multipro rotary tools
Label: This product is not intended for use as a dental drill.

Product: Dremel Multipro rotary tools.

You can't be too careful in this day and age.

Well, we all know how stupid these stickers may seem BUT...there are a lot of stupid people out there. We can probably blame the situation that started all the manufacturers to cover their butts with these caution stickers back to our liberal court system that allowed that infamous law suit. Liebeck v. McDonald's. Stella Liebeck, put a container of hot coffee between her legs after picking it up at a McDonald drive through and burned herself, I believe she was awarded $600,000.

I had a law suit against me years back after an employee put his fingers under a radial arm saw while cutting a piece of steel and cut the tip of his finger off.

I think the best line for people like this comes from the Tom Hanks movie, Forrest Gump, and the line that his mama preached was; “Stupid is as stupid does”.

Jim,

I agree with you about the reason for these labels, but even then people still sue for every stupid thing they do. But to any person of average intelligence some of them are still funny. The one of the can of peanuts with the label that this can contains nuts is an example of what I thought was one of the funny ones. Of course I didn't see what kind of nuts it contained on the picture of the label.

Fred,

Now I know why you are always offering to do my dental work. I have a dremel set too and mine doesn't have that warning on it. Maybe I had better hide it.

Ron

I agree Fred, they are very funny...I like the egg carton that states; "Might contain eggs".

My wife had a blow dryer with a warning that said, "Do not use while sleeping." WTF?

I was talking to a woman that I know who lives in Ohio yesterday and she said she has a neighbor that does sleep with her blow dryer on. She asked her why as it was dangerous and the answer was, "It keeps me feeling nice and warm." She will really feel warm when it sets the blankets on fire. So that warning isn't as far out as it would seem to the normal person.

My current personal favorite was on a ski jacket at Dick's Sporting goods. The jacket had some kind of sewn-in reflector for the "sonar" that avalanche rescue workers use to find buried skiers. The warning was " this device does not prevent avalanches!"

It's getting pretty stupid.

The next thing you know "they" will be trying to say that my ball peen hammer, chisel, vise grips and channel locks aren't for dental work either.

Fred,

Only if you don't have the new sonic cleaner for them that is illegal in the U.S. You need a new set of dental tools.

Ron

Parachutes have had warning labels for several years now. Duh!
