By failing to take action, he condoned what happened and failed to protect other kids as well. Don’t care what the law says, not okay in my book.

I am also a Pitt alumni and am deeply saddened that this has happened to a great university, rival or not. The quote from "A Few Good Men" is absolutely appropriate. Paterno has represented Penn State as a renowned coach and hence the focus of this horrific situation. Did he protect the football promram and his staff? Absolutely! Did he protect the children involved. Not even close. We seem to focus on JoPa, hence the subject of the thread. What if the the thread subject were Tim Curley, Gary Schultz, Jack Raykovitz etc etc etc. We probably would skip over it.
I'm not excusing Joe Paterno but noting the extennsive collusion involved.
