If it has been awhile since you heard her sing The National Anthem at the 1991 Super Bowl you should listen again.
RIP Whitney

I'm shocked...............that this didn't happen sooner.
You only get one body in life and she polluted hers.

It's a sad thing that so many people in show biz are unable to cope with their success and end up being controlled by drugs and doomed by the people that control their careers and life's. Sad day again for the talented ones.

Fred...thanks. Yup, she's one of the few to nail what most performers say is one of the more difficult songs.
That said...it's been said.

Other people's blood. Just like the owners manual says, "When subjecting your engine to harsh conditions, change the oil more often."
First, Thanks Mods for fixing my misspelling her first name in the title.
Absolutely what a waste.
She was a drunk and drug addict for many years before her death. She ruined her beautiful voice and squandered her vast wealth.
One thing she didn't do is become a mean, petty and vindictive person.
She was known as a caring, nice and generous person to the end. This is what I hope her daughter embraces and lets all the destructive behavior stay in the past.

Part of the reason she did such a good job singing at the Super Bowl was due to the fact she lip synced the song. It was recorded about 2 weeks before the SB.
Needless to say, it is a great job. Beautiful and straight to the point. I know some singers want to have artistic freedom, but then we end up with a Christina Aguilera rendition with half the words missing.

NJ governor set flags to half staff. Shouldn't we set the bar a little higher?
She was a talented troubled singer not exactly a role model or hero!

Good point, perhaps N.J. should have just done a candlelight vigil for Whitney Houston.....
