Mic for GoPro HD HERO 2 ?

Any suggestions/recommendations for an external 3.5mm mic to be used with the GoPro HD HERO 2 ?

To connect the external mic, Skeleton Housing AHDSH-001 @ $39.99 needs to be ordered. Housing that comes with the camera does not have the side cutout for the mic cord.

Sound quality & wind noise using the Skeleton Backdoor with the HD HERO 2 built in mic has been ?

Don,

I don't know which Go Pro he has but you might contact Deckofficer over on the T-Bucket forum. He has posted several videos and his are so quiet that you can hear him talking and he has an open car also. The only noise you hear is when he starts to give it more gas and the engine sound is just as clear as it can be. He has a Track-T so it is as open as the Cobras. I thought that the video quality was great also.

Ron :)

Thanks....will do. Thought I had read all the material before ordering the GoPro, missed that a different optional housing, skeleton, is needed for the side mic connection. For the internal mic, the packaging for the HD HERO2 mentions " Professionally tuned sound reduces wind noise. ". Options on video resolution are 1080, 960 and 720 , with angle at either 170 or 127 degrees.

I’ve had terrible luck with the sound on my GO Pro HD Hero 2. I keep picking up an intermittent creaking sound at slow speeds (like stopping for a red light). Assume it is the camera vibrating in the case or the mounting hardware. Have not been able to stop it. Wind noise when mounted on the roll bar is acceptable, but that damn creaking noise…

Voyager: Are you using an external mic or the built in mic ? My GoPro came with the Waterproof Backdoor installed on the housing, the Skeleton Backdoor has the two openings.....which one are you using ? Waiting for the housing to arrive with the side opening for the external mic, which I am guessing when connected the internal mic will be disabled. Both doors have insulating strips on the inside which appear to securely hold the camera.

I heard back from deckofficer that Ron mentioned, he is using GoPro with the internal mic.

Ron....when you are on the T-bucket forum, can you post the link that has an example of his audio......thanks

I should have mentioned, GoPro does not provide any recommendations on the choice of external mics, checked with their Support

Don,

I will try to find them and post them for you. He actually posted them on our Cobra Registry site and it may be easier for me to locate them there.

EDIT: Don here is a link from Deckofficers site that has two or three of his videos in it. After reading the post above I to notice a creaking sound at low speed. Maybe Bob could tell you what it is.
