Internet Fighting
And this is a true story.
Like a lot of people here, I'm a member on other forums, some of which I have been on for many years. On one of these forums, the rules are pretty lax. Best way to describe it is it's like Tombstone in the wild, wild west days. Anything goes by way of language or pictures. And for the most part it worked out for many years. Then a few folks showed up and at best they could be described as internet bullies. Since the moderators pretty much let things go, myself and few others left. It also got to the point that they ran off one of the oldest and most respected vendors. This vendor organized yearly gatherings one of which was held two weeks ago. One of the bullies flew over half way across the country to show up. He waited in the bushes until most had gone to bed, and then came out with his wife. He approached the vendor and they then shook hands. As the vendor went to sit down in his lawn chair, the other person attacked him, shoving him backwards where he struck his head on a wheel and was knocked out. The person continued to hit him in the head as he just laid there. Some of the people who witnessed this then came to his aid and the bully and his wife ran off and hid. Police showed up and the person was arrested and charged. The vendor ended up in the hospital for a few days and is now back home recovering. What get's me is how some people can get so worked up over something that happens over the internet. What is wrong with these people? I know this would never happen here, but I did want to post this so people would be aware of what could happen. Take care and look out for the crazies. They are out there. |
