Opinion on Nudge Bars
Hi all,
I was curious what the thoughts are on Nudge Bars. Looking at lots of pictures I see about a 50/50 ratio on them. I'm trying to decide if I want to add them or not. I've found a place where I can get them, un-chromed, so I can powder coat them the same as my exhaust and roll bars. Opinions please..:3DSMILE: |

I think it is just more what you like as they really don't serve much of a purpose. I had the bumpers on mine and they would stand up to maybe a 1 mile an hour push or touch. I just liked the looks of them. Ron ;) |
I always liked the way they look. Had them on my last Cobra, SPF 905, and was glad I did 2 years ago at the Pismo Beach Classic car show. A kid in a little Nissan bumped me in traffic, maybe 3-4 mph, while he was watching the T&A rather than traffic. It dimpled the left bumperette(upright) and slightly tweaked the support tubes. Replaced the upright and re-straightened the supports and was back in business. Cost me less than $60. Had the bumpers not been there...I don't think I would have been too happy...the taillight area would have taken the brunt. It's a matter of taste but thought I'd give some food for thought...besides, the quick jacks on most Cobras are looks only...not strong enough to use for their supposed purpose of lifting the car in a pit stop. Fake is fake, I guess. Regards from the Best Coast, lol.

I have the bumper "hoops" and bumperettes on mine...they have saved me from having body damage quite a few times, not the least of which was the time I applied too much right foot going around a right hand corner and ended up sliding backwards in the ditch into a post on which was mounted a road sign. The "hoop" was $100, but body work would have been MUCH more!
I can't figure out if I like the look of just the quick-jacks or not...they MIGHT provide a bit of protection in a low-speed rear end collision....but the hoops with the bumperettes are a much better bet in that situation. Oh, yeah....had a probem with the brakes for a while and tapped a car from behind, too...the hoop in the front is bent a bit, but unless you know it you have a hard time finding it. I have a new front hoop, too....just need to take time to put it on. Cheers! Dugly :cool: |
I can't really imagine what they'll look like powdercoated. I like them in chrome as they break up the paint a bit at both ends.

Totally agree with Craig. Chromed bars seem to really enhance the paint job. Also think it is a good idea to have them. Also saved me from body damage when a Toyota van ran up my arse!
