Another anniversary
Three years ago was my last cigarette....and the loss of my boyish figure. Oh well. I will trade pounds for years any day.
|
Congrats Jay ! Not an easy thing to do but the benefits are great.
Now you have 3 down,I'm looking forward to your #4 ! |
Congrats!
|
congrats on 3 years. How much weight have you gained? I thought quitting smoking was hard. Losing the weight is harder for me. HOpe you have better luck. #4 coming up!
|
sorry for the answer delay
been crazy around here. I have gained about 40 pounds and now have lost about 10 for summer. feel great hough except for the extra girth. At my age I guess I will blame it on low T instead of lazy ass syndrome.
I drag race ergo I guess I could lose 1/2 of a tenth for weight reduction.:) or I could take the plazma cutter....... Jay |
Try an all liquid diet.
TEQUILA IS A LIQUID  |
Jay taught me how to snort tequila.
I taught him how to snort raki. Jay...11 years since the last smoke. Drove to Provo in 2003 to pickup the arruminum beast cold turkey. Bit my freeking tongue a zillion times chewing gum...I still chew Nicorettes, albeit the 2mg (they candy coated the damn things). I didn't add any weight...already had it all. |
Congratulations! Smoking was "one" bad habit I never picked up. I think it may be because I stole a pack of lucky strikes when I was about 6. I turned green and got so sick to my stomach I never had any interest later in life.
|
wow
11 years! Sure went by fast. I remember when you posted about the trip.
I guess it is true about life being like a roll of toilet paper...the closer to the end the faster it goes. Give up the gum though, the patch is easier to keep lit. Good hearing from you old friend. It always brings back fond memories. |

I had driven to Sacto in the Cobra to meet up with Turk and Pat, and then to meet Lori and the girls for a choir concert (both girls had made All-State Choir). Left Pat's to drive into downtown on 50 when one of the damn bronze distributor gears let go from trying to run the solid lifter roller cam (which is why I switched back to the flat tappet cam which has never had a problem since). Not much time to make it to the concert, so I called them and they drove out in Pat's Suburu and Turk's Cobra. Idea was for me to jump in to the Suburu and get on to the concert while they yanked the distributor to take back to pat's to fit a new gear on (Pat was getting damn good at this...fixed mine several times on trips). Anyway, they decided Turk better stay with my Cobra which was parked on the side of the freeway. So Pat and I take off and there's Turk sitting on the side of the road. He soon found out he didn't have a lighter or matches. So he's going nuts for a smoke. Tells us later that he tried using a piece of broken glass and the sun, but that didn't work. Finally flags down a car just to get a cigarette lit, and then chain smoked the rest of the time. I mean, who else but Turk would do that. When we later all met up, I told him I had some Nicorettes in the map pocket, and that he should've taken the opportunity to try them out. Turk explained that he found them and did try them out. Said he rubbed two of the foil packs together for several minutes, but he couldn't get a spark out of them. :p |
