SONOS: Wireless Speaker System
I had been looking for a wireless speaker system with internet audio streaming and after reading the article in Business Week purchased SONOS, Play 5. Upgraded my network to Apple AirPort Extreme.

A follow-up to my posting, my experience with the Sonos product has been outstanding, including their user friendly and skilled technical support, added another speaker, controlled by their iPad or/and iPhone app

If you don't mind, what besides the speaker do you need to successfully play music through the system. I ask because I got a sonos play3 speaker for Christmas (2 Christmas's ago) that is sitting in a closet. I thought I needed additional parts to play an iphone/ipad through the speaker. It it's just that easy, I'll let the kids use it in the yard/deck when out there with friends. |
Joe, I became a SONOS user only in the past few months. Do not know if the older systems are the same or upgrades have taken place. In my case, connected the SONOS to my existing home network, nothing else to purchase. Although I did upgrade the network, which may not have been necessary, since it also served my Apple TV and iMac.
There is a serial number on the bottom of the speaker. Might want to call their support, 800-680-2345, and based upon my experience, they will assist in setting up. Also, within the packaging there are set up instructions. I use the SONOS app on my iPhone and iPad as the controller, not familiar with the other devices which can also be used as the controller. Next step will be to connect the iTunes library on the iMac to the SONOS wireless speakers. |
