Street Outlaws - NOTHING STREET ABOUT IT!

The show is fun to watch but come on. These fastest guys like Kye Kelly and Daddy Dave's borrowed Corvette are nothing but all out tube chassis, stripped out, race cars. They have to TRAILER them to the streets to run a "Street" race, what a joke.

In my mind a street race means you drive your street car to the race and beat someone else who drove their street car to the race. Some of these guys don't have 10 miles on their cars driving on the street.

Buddy,

Remember, the is NOTHING "Real" about "reality" TV! Do you really think someone can estimate the restoration costs for a car after a 15 second look? Can you really build a car in 5 days? If you pay 5 grand for a car and put 2K worth of parts in it, have you made 3 grand? I bet those guys who work there are not getting paid, they are doing it for TV exposure and to be discovered?

There are only a couple of car oriented shows on TV that are not total BullSh!te........

Buddy,

That Farm Truck was here three weekends ago and it is nothing but a truck body stuck on a custom made frame and everything else out of sight is custom made. It gets by to drive on the street but not in this state.

Ron I was in Cali for a few weeks an started to wonder how Cobras with side exhaust get away with the noise. We looked at a few houses in Carmel and this was the first thing I thought of.:JEKYLHYDE

Dan

Ohya.... Guys it's a TV SHOW ;):3DSMILE:

Ron61 03-06-2016 07:29 AM

Dan,

I think they have a noise restriction down there. Up here in the mountains they have limits but unless you go into town they don't have much enforcement of them. Mine aren't super loud and I can drive in town OK so long as I am not getting on it. And most of my driving now that I don't race any more is on the back roads through the mountains.

What do you figure the life expectancy would be for a TV show featuring 14 second street cars???

"What do you figure the life expectancy would be for a TV show featuring 14 second street cars???"

With the way they doctor up the video of the racing, it looks like they are going for a lot farther than the 660' they're racing, which probably takes them less than 4 seconds. Artistic License?

I'd be really curious to know what their "rules" are, if any.
I saw an episode a month or so ago where the out-of-town challengers pulled up to the line in Pro-Mods. The biggest trick for these cars is tuning them to hook up and drive straight!

Some of the newer cars (Crow-Mod and Goliath-2) are really pushing the Pro-Mod boundaries too.

The original program was mildly entertaining, but when they start Trash talking and yelling, the drama can be too much.

(but I still record it every week )

Karl Bebout 03-08-2016 01:47 PM

Just dawned on me that the show is about "street racing" not racing street cars, which is the first thing I thought of due to a mis-spent youth.

Ron61 03-09-2016 05:04 AM

That is a great drive and some great views all the way up the coast and through Oregon. I haven't done it for quite some time but may make another run next Summer if things work out.

Probably not long - but I would get a kick out of a show that followed some of the muscle car Pure Stock guys around and chronicled some of their strip action. :)

Karl Bebout 03-09-2016 12:28 PM

BTW, I saw that "Pinks" is starting back up. Think it will be on the "Outdoors" channel.

More drama.
