My Cobra's First Car Wash

After 20 years, my Cobra got it's first car wash. Up until now, I've used Meguiar's products to keep the car clean. It's never seen soap and water. But some mysterious something got on the car and I thought soap and water was the best way to get it off. I don't know what it was, and I couldn't see it, but it felt like 120 grit bumps spaced about 1/4" apart. As though a fine mist of 120 grit hard dew fell on the car. I was worried, but the soap and water did the trick. I just used dish detergent. Since there is no paint, but only the original gel coat finish, I didn't think I needed any special cleaners.

I learned you can't fully wash the back of the car as there is no way to rinse without having it all rolling into the passenger compartment. Since I don't know how it got the stuff on it, I'm hoping it doesn't happen again.

Wow thats a long time, my vette went 6 years without a wash or ever seeing rain but i use Eagle one wipe and shine, and after 6 years it developed a chemical haze from all the cleanings. Washed it and did a clay bar treatment, omg what a shine it had afterwards. Your car looks brand new, its amazing what a garage with no windows will do for a paint job.

I had a problem with a haze after parking next to overhead misting system at a restaurant. It was suggested that I use a mixture of vinegar and water (3 to 1) and a microfiber towel...all the haze came off on the first try. I had used soap and water before and it had little effect. Worked for me.

A friend of mine has a window cleaning business and uses reverse osmosis water to clean window up high, so he doesn't have to squeegee the water of. As the water doesn't have any dirt in it to leave any marks. That way I can clean down the engine and rinse of the car carefully and not have to dry it.

Windows are a waste of space in a garage. There's a big opening at the front you can open or close. Why add more space wasters? I use all my wall space for important things like tools, cabinets, shelves, and.... art.

An excellent idea. I just installed an RO. I'll have to give that a try.
