Any experience with Canton accusump?
I am thinking about installing to extend my engine life just looking for opinions good- bad or ugly Thanks

I installed one on mine about 10 years ago. It's their 2 quart model and it's solely set up for pre-lube duties since I don't track my car. |

I believe that if you track the car, you really need one. That, coupled with a good baffled road race pan, will keep your engine alive lap after lap.
Otherwise, I think it's a complete waste of time, money, and space.

I use them on both cars - the 3 quart size. I use each car on the street and have spent lots of fun hours with them on road race courses.
I agree with bob's opinion above: if you just use the car on the street it's probably overkill. Any track time at all, it's necessary.
BTW, the so-called road race pans from Canton are no help whatsoever...

I think you're way off base on this Bob...
A lot of Cobras sit a long time between starts. Mine sits 6 months+. Any amount of oil that was clinging to the rotating assembly, bearings included, have long since disappeared. I just hate to dry-start a $20K plus engine. 30psi on a cold start is always a good thing... |

Maybe. But I'm a scientist. I like to see proof. So far, all I'v ever seen is advertising. If it sits for 6 months, then you're only starting it like that once or twice a year. How many years before you see any actual wear from that?
IMO, you're better off using a good 0W-40 oil and not worrying about it.
OTOH, you have to do what helps you sleep at night. And if installing this does that, then I say go for it. :) |

But... I've a degree in automotive technologies and slept in a Holiday Inn Express. It makes me AND my engine happier. |
