Question

Warren,

Can you e-mail me a schematic of your light wireing or post a picture of it? I have seperate fuses in my high and low beam leads. You can't have to much wrong. Maybe if Tru were to come remove the seats you could get to work on the light problem.

Ron

Don't have a schematic. Waiting for new owners manual to ship.

The ground wires are brown (add your joke here).

Time for a ride ... only 72 ºF outside. Will check headlights later tonite or when its raining. Hate to waste this great weather.

Hummmmm. The Ted Williams tunnel is open. Maybe it time to loosen a few more panels????

Time to break out the earplugs. Cowabonga .. we're the Fugawee tribe, just waiting to build a casino. How about the Cobra Casino?

Maybe Warren, you need more driving time.

I gamble enough just driving on the road with all these yahoos.

Can't sleep, but I am going to try again. Good night.

Hope you got some shut-eye.

Checked the wiring at the back of the headlights yesterday and could not find anything that was the problem. Guess I'll have to wait for new owners manual w/ a wiring diagram.

But in the meantime, its 54 ºF outside at 7 AM, with a forecast high of 77 ºF and sunny skies. Guess I'll have to go for a nice Sunday drive. Time to check the local car show listing - maybe there is something not too far away.

Warren,

If the owners manual doesn't arrive soon, go to the back of the headlights with your volt/ohm meter and take the two power leads off. Turn the lights on and measure the voltage on the high beam lead as it works so it should have a reading. Then switch to low beam and see if you get any reading at all. I wish my car had color coded wires as that every wire being white with the small numbers every few feet is a pain in the A&& especially when your eye sight is not good. If you have no voltage on the low beam lead, check to see if it is fused separately as mine is. Then check at the fuse holder. From there trace it back to the connector to the steering collum if that is where your dimmer switch is. If no voltage coming out, check the lead feeding voltage into the collum and it should have voltage as the high beams work. This should not take long if your wires are color coded and even if you have to get a toner to trace them it would be worth it. Wish I was able to work with you on it. In a short time you would look like a rolling light show.

I did that yesterday. Thanks. Could not find anything wrong. What really baffles me is that the relay does not hold the high beams on. All of the fuses are OK. Grounds are OK. I cannot get 12 V for the low beams. Switch is OK. Relay is OK.

I'm not OK. But seeing as the temp is all the way up to 64 ºF, I guess its time to go to a local car show. Supposed to have 30 classes. Hope there is one for the Cobra. Gas tank is full and my right foot is getting itchy. Time for some burnouts.

Forecast is for 77 ºF this afternoon. I'm not sure if I can stand the heat!

Warren, just how many miles does you car have on it??

Looks like Nik won second place in the money round at GenCom.

Ron, I am not sure that guy asking about the "Wet Paint" knows how expensive it is. I wish I was rich like you.

Well, I suppose with little sleep, I will venture forth and dig more holes for posts.

Warren,

Sounds as if you have an almost perfect day ahead. Enjoy the car show.

Do you lose the high beams when driving only or will they cut off if you turn them on and just let the car sit for a while. If it is only when driving, you could have some loose connector that the vibration is causing to lose contact. I am guessing that you have checked the relays and they are actually releasing instead of staying operated when you lose the high beams. It won't hurt anything to do this, so try wiring across the relay and turning the high beams on and see if they stay on. That will either eliminate the relay or point to another problem. If the relay is releasing after a few minutes, then you have to be losing either the voltage through the winding or the ground to it. By using a clip cord and jumping across the contacts, that will tell you if the problem is in the relay area or not. I have used this method and only once did I find the relay to be at fault.

Well, Warren did you win a trophy or ribbon????

There have been some interesting threads started lately. I am not following all this inner CC intrigue, but it looks like Jamo has had his hands full. Ron, have you noticed?

Tru,

I don't have enough money to start a fire large enough to burn your pocket change.

If you were asking me about Jamo having his hands full, yes there have been some threads lately that he has been watching closely. The war, politics, and religion seem to have taken away a lot of the sanity that used to be here. An no, I wasn't one of the sane ones.

I did enjoy the car show, even though I did not find out it was a rice burner show until after I entered. There were about 250 rice burners and about 25 non-rice burners. Of course, they had 29 classes for rice burners and one called Traditional. I along with 25 others were in one class. It was for a local charity which I support. I was amazed at some of the $$$$ thown into some non-discript vehicle. Some you could not even tell who made them.

But one thing for sure, my Cobra (only one there) drew a lot of attention.

She looks good from any angle ..... and she did not win a trophy.

Ok, Warren,

Just how much did you pay her to pose in your Cobra? Of course all in the interest of charity.

You are right. If I set Tru's money on fire half of the state would burn. Maybe not such a bad thing as it would get rid of these years of dead trees and underbrush that the tree huggers won't allow to be removed.

Ron - pennies do NOT burn .... safe as a concrete turd.

She is really into cars, but likes the bikes better. I had to promise her to e-mail her copies of the pics.

I cannot believe this is August. Went for a short ride until it started to sprinkle a little rain. It was only 73 ºF outside. Just got back, and the server is up. Yaaaaaa

Supposed to have a few showers tomorrow, then 8 days of sunshine with max temp of 79 ºF.

The Mt Shasta goddess must be on vacation. Time for some supper.

Warren,

I have to agree with you about this being August. Normally we are in the 115+ range most of the month but this has been our nicest month of the Summer. It was July that set heat records almost daily. So far our high this month has just been 106 and most days have been around the 102 to 104 mark, and we even had two mornings that we had thuinder showers. I was actually wondering if I was out of state and just didn't remember going.

Just got back from Redding and doing a few things and I drove the replica as it is a nice day so far. First time I have started it in almost 3 months. Darn, does it need cleaning and the mag wheels are just black with brake dust. To hard to clean so I just won't use the brakes any more.
