Brent,
I was having to buy caps until I made a cap holder. I got two small clips down at the hardware store and a very small bungee cord. I took the ends off the bungee cord and put the clips on it. I clip one end to the back of the cap and the other end to my shirt collar. I have had my cap blow off several times but never lost it as it just went down behind me and was held there until I could slow down enough to put it back on. I found a great head polish that really brings out the shine in the bald head.

I haven't lost one in a long time. It is the sweat that is hard on them.
That last sentence, there are SO many ways that could go south in a hurry.

Well at least I have proved one of the old adages wrong. It sure isn't intelligence that makes a person lose their hair. If it was I would be an Ophimier.

Got a haircut and went food shopping.
Then I went for a short ride.
I officially proclaim that 58 ºF is COLD. Ride only lasted about 10 miles. My ear lobes are still cold!
Tomorrows high temp is supposed to be 57 ºF. Brrrrr. But thats probably swimming weather for Tru.

That cement thing off the beach is part of the old sewer pumping system.
Its actual a vent. The sewerage for Quincy was formerly pumped thru underground pipe to an island off the coast close to my house. Of course, when we were kids, sometime the sewerage plant offshore would back up, so they had these 3 huge vats (pools) out on "Moon Island" to use as a temporary holding tank. Its tied into that unmanned pumping station I posted a pic, that has 6 parking spaces.
The vats were about 400 feet long, 100 foot wide and 75 ft deep. The road out to Moon island is about 1 mile long and then the road takes a 90 º turn. If you kept going straight, it was right into the vat full of you know what.
A Corvette went into the vat about 1968. That is the last one I heard of. Can you imagine swimming around in that $hit for 2 hours before they hauled you out?
They tried to sell the Corvette - no takers - the smell was overpowering. I remember seeing it.
Today the vats are closed and the sewerage pipe is now just a back-up/failsafe system.
But back in my days as a kid, they dumped the raw sewerage right into the bay about 2 or 3 times a month due to problems. Today, they close the beach if the waste count is 100 parts per million. Hell, we used to swim in the bay when the count was less than one tootsie rolls per sq ft.
We always did the breast stroke to get the floaters out of the way.
OK, now that I've ruined your supper ....

Warren,
Your post reminded me of my favorite meal in the Army.
SOS, $hit on a Shingle.

Warren,
Great description. Isn't it amazing at what used to be in the water we swam in when we were kids. And most of us survived. You should have bought that Corvette and stored it.
Fred,
Will I see you still remember one of the favorite military meals. Actually it was a treat to some that I had to eat.

Fred, My dad make SOS when we were kids. Used to tell us it would make a man out of us. My sisters refused to eat it as they were "girls". My mom laughed for at least 30 minutes after she heard the story.
HEY!!!!
The Cobra lives. Took it out in 50 degree weather with mud puddles and pot holes...just to get a feeling for her with the new transmission. YES it was fun!
I'm probably gonna have to do the picture thingy so I can catch up with Warren.

Tru,
Well I am happy that you finally got to take the Cobra out for a drive and that everything went well. Congratulations. As for catching Warren with the picture thingy, get three cameras and a lot of memory cards. But do post some pictures of your area. It is nice to see something besides desert and mountains for a change.

That's really good news Tru ! Back in the saddle again !!
From what you said a week or so ago,I thought it was going to be awhile. You really got with it.
Not knowing must about the weather (season) changes up there, with this being just the first part of Oct. there is bound to be a good amount of time left to enjoy it in your Cobra.
BTW : I liked SOS in the Army. Might have been one of the very few.I still order it when I can find it.
Having such fine culinary tastes helped with my ex-wife's cooking.

That was good Fred. BTW, it is getting cool here and the days highs are between 50 and 70 ( the 70 being this weekend predicted ), so it is chilly enough that the rides are few and cherrished.
I think I will be working on the master cylinder for the clutch, but not right now.

Leaves are changing here too and it has been raining and the temperature this morning is just barely on the 50 mark. Cold for us, but warm to Tru and others in the Cold states. I have to go into Redding and pick up my eye glasses in a few minutes, and then I may try to get out in some of the canyons to see if I can get some good pictures of all the colors.

I suppose you all would have to wear a coat or something if it is 50 and you are out cruising.
Last night I decided to unroll my sleeves as I thought it might be a cill. It was like 50, but the minute I step into a first to second shift, the warmth of that "sensation" made it better.
I suppose Warren will be out and about this weekend. Ron, you know you should do the same...weather permitting. I know Fred will be out as well a Brent. I think this could be a "everyone out" weekend.

We had a bit of a sprinkle last night. Doubled the amount of rainfall for the year.
Will probably go for a ride Saturday and off to Coronado for the Vintage Races. I will probably try to skip past the Cobras there because Emily always finds a black one and we start arguing the Color mine should be. She always says shiny black and as soon as she sees a black one she has to point it out and tell me to paint mine the same. I always tell her to buy her own.
