Got me too! We do have snow on Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea in the winter
and sometimes briefly on Haleakula but not sure what the "other place" is.

Well we hard a hard steady wind from around 1 AM until about 10:30 and then it just stopped and went from the low 60s right into the upper 90s in about 20 minutes. I spent some of the day picking up small limbs that blew out of the tree in my yard. And for the first time I can remember, I never heard a single firecracker go off. But with the fire danger so high they are really handing out huge fines I guess for anyone setting them off.

No Cobra until AAA figures out what went wrong. They have it listed as in-storage with no collision or any of that other stuff.
I stopped writing again - got a lot going on. I think it was Jams that had AC problems, well we lost the motor in ours on Friday. So I get a new one and wouldn't you know it, I found out why the motor died. So, we are running on a 20 inch fan where we need 24 inches or better.
So it was 81 this morning. Going to 95 today. I think I will try to get a barn door replaced and that is all.

Tru,
What happened to the Cobra? I must have missed something. Hope that it isn't anything serious. It is back in the triple digits here now and dusty as all get out.

Heavy thunderstorms forecasted and I need to change the cooling fan in the Mustang. Luckily, I can let it sit at home and ride to work with the wife. She works for a sub contractor of ours in our building, so it just means I have to stay for a few hours after I get off, but I don't have to rush getting the car fixed.

No Ron, AAA has decided to put my Cobra in storage. When I called my agent, he said he would look into it as it was not supposed to be in storage.
I also asked him to look over the policy as my rates went way up.
He asked for a week to get back which I agreed.
The car needs a car wash and bolt check - that's all. And an oil change, but I will do that with the bolt check.
How is the beautiful 69 doing?
Joe, save some of that rain, we need some.
I imagine Fred is out biking around in that 100 plus temperatures.

These are possibly the 5 best sentences you'll ever read:
You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.
What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation.
You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.

It is electric. It is not too difficult, but I have to remove the overflow tank and top radiator hose, so I will probably have to get some coolant to add back in. After that it is only a few bolts and 1 plug. Good news is that I got the last local one from Autozone, Nobody else has one, and Ford wants more than double the price. I know of 4 03 Mustangs in the last 3 weeks to have the fan fail. It is a shrouded blade fan and the blade shroud is breaking on all of them. That causes the fan to be out of balance and wobble. It begins hitting the main shroud making a ticking sound. It is not real loud and I could not hear it over my exhaust. For the last couple of weeks, I kept thinking I heard a ticking, but then couldn't hear anything. Now that the fan bearing is failing, I can really hear it.

Joe,
That is good. My friend had the alternator on his Ford pickup start to get bad, bearing was howling so he got one from NAPA and it isn't even close to what was needed. Then he sent it over to a place here that rebuilds starters and electric stuff and they told him they won't rebuild these newer alternators as once they break the main plug in seal, that is when they fires start. So they are making him a new one and he will just have to splice the four wires into the ones coming out of the new one. About 1/3rd the price of getting one from Ford and in two days instead of maybe 2 weeks.

Tru,
The fan is a plastic one that has a shrouded blade (for those who don't know what I mean, there is a flat plastic ring attached to the tips of the fan blades. This makes for a smoother, and quieter fan). There is also the standard shroud around the fan. The blade shroud broke causing the fan to be off balance and hit against the main shroud. This explains the tapping I kept thought I was hearing, and then never could find. After a little while, the bearing went out from being so off balanced, and it started making a horrendous noise. Not too hard to find that one.
All done now though, only took about 30 min last night.

Joe,
Glad that you got it done and it never caused any real damage. I saw a car once where one of the steel bladed fans had a blade break off and it stuck into the side of the battery. This was one of the old 60s muscle cars and what a mess that was. After looking at the blade, it had came from the factory with a line about 3/4ths of the way through it near the bottom that looked as if it had been cut.

Glad to hear it didn't walk into the radiator or other parts of the car.
Wow, did you go after-market or OEM replacement parts?

I went with the aftermarket. It is the "OEM replacement" part from Autozone. 1/2 the price, and the funny part is the mounting and all hardware was identical to the original. Down to the color of the connector. I have noticed that before on other parts and researched them. Turns out the electrical parts that Ford uses comes from the same vendor who Autozone uses for their "OEM Replacement" parts. I think Napa uses the same vendor as GM, but not real sure. But basically it is the same part made by the same people, without the Ford markup. The framework of the assembly even has the recessed square for the 2 stickers that are on the OEM part.
