Stolen Tank

I understand the Aussies have a man driving through town in a stolen tank.

I still use a Cobra. I am not sure chicks will go for the tank. :D :D

VRM 07-14-2007 11:45 PM

I hear some chicks like the big gun...

That did not end well for the guy who did it in So. Cal. several years back.

Ron61 07-15-2007 05:31 AM

Yea, hard to outrun police cars in a tank, but also hard for them to stop him. Didn't he get it high centered on the divider between the freeway lanes or something like that? Oh well, if you are going to steal something for a joy ride that would be the thing. Just make sure the main gun is loaded.

That is exactly what happened, then he died of "lead poisoning".

Jamo 07-15-2007 03:03 PM

I don't know, if you wanna go out in a big way and have the cops help ya along...makes for a nice Hallmark moment.

Stolen tank video

Stolen tank. Not the best quality but you will get the idea.
Evidently he had a grudge about mobile phones.
View video here.

A few years back a couple of marines decided to take a APV (tracked) to
Waikiki from the Marine Corp Base in Kaneohe. They flatened the rear gate
and made it to the Pali highway about 5 miles away before hanging it up on the steel divider. No one hurt but they may still be busting rocks in
Leavenworth.

When you drive a tank no one stops you...**)

The tank is a hire vehicle that is sometimes used for end of year school functions etc.

However, you do not get to drive it. Just turn up to end of school year functions and at $200 per time it's more expensive than a taxi..

Ron61 07-16-2007 05:51 AM

I can just see the road rage battles if everyone was driving tanks. Here they just shoot at each other with guns. If they had tanks it could get really interesting and would most likely thin out the traffic. :D

Ron

BMK 07-16-2007 05:54 AM

Ron61

Ron,

I noted the Police sorted him out once they had him out of the tank..

Ron61 07-16-2007 06:00 AM

Bernie,

We don't have any base that has heavy weapons closer than Sacramento so at least I don't expect to meet a tank on the freeway. Wonder if I could find a kit tank that is about the size of a smaller SUV with working gun and all and would do around 80 MPH. At least it would get some attention I bet.

Ron

BMK 07-16-2007 06:09 AM

Ron61

Ron,

You worry me....could use it fire at the speed cameras.

I cannot understand why is was running down the telecommunication towers.

Would have thought that he could have run down a few speed cameras, or red light cameras. He would have half of Sydney paying his bail today..

Aussie Mike 07-16-2007 06:24 AM

A bloke I used to work with had a WWII Sherman tank on his family farm. He was restoring it but eventually donated it to a military museum. A lot of surplus tanks were bought cheap by farmers to use as tractors.

Cheers

Aussie Mike

Mike,

Not getting any ideas for your next project Mike..

trularin 07-16-2007 07:58 AM

I have never seen a tank pulling a eight gang plow or disc, but it would surely get a poop load of attention.
