I'll bet a paycheck that its about 10 to 1 fatality ratio DUI vs street racing. Come on,guys!Where's your Carroll Shelby spirit?Lie to the powers that be. Show up in court with a reciept saying the clutch linkage problem has been fixed by your local shop. |
:)
Bill, Sorry but that quote is not from me. Please read the post before you start blaming people for things they don't say. My part of the post was about the breaking of traction and it being a speeding exhibition ticket. In fact if you will read my post following that one you will see that I said we don't have a big street racing problem here. One of the few problems that we have so far escaped thank goodness. :) Originally Posted by 427sharpe Quote from Ron: The street racer crowd have killed quite a few people in the area the last few years Ron :) |

Thanks, I like being predictable. Also, trim. |

There was a short piece about this on Hannity last night - I believe I heard that this was her third speeding ticket in a short time - if that's true the fine just could be right on the money. Can you imagine if her water broke while she was speeding to the hospital? She could have killed the child. Let's face it, we all play with speed around here - you play, you pay if you are not smart or at least alert. |
:D
Ray, Finally we agree.  Ron  |
CDC-i'm still waiting for your reply.
Ron-no worries. It's comical(relatively)when people start ranting about ALL the deaths from street racing. |

Yes, and the DUI idiots are getting hammered too! The DFW area has really caught on to going after problems BEFORE somebody gets hurt, and I think its about time. USED to be that the only time they made somebody take the sniffer test was AFTER a wreck. Not so any more! I say more power to 'em! As for the street racers, I say get them too! We have had a lot of incidents here of bystanders (innocent drivers) getting run over when some kid loses control racing down a public street. From what I know, the cops have been pretty fair about using the impound laws USUALLY only when you are racing another car. If you are a little too enthusiastic on the accelerator they just pop you with the normal $250-300 ticket and DL points....UNLESS you're an idiot. **) |
:)
Bill, I believe the big street death toll from street racing is mostly related to Montreal. I have seen a few shows on TV about their street racing and they do hurt and kill a lot of people as they just seem to do it anywhere at any time. At least In L.A. when it was big they would go down in the ware house district after hours and block the streets off so no stray cars would come through while they were racing. I believe the last death we had here from any kind of street racing was almost 15 years ago as it is not done at all hardly any more except once in a while by a couple of kids that have been drinking or are using dope of some kind. I can't say about the DFW area as I am not there. But far more are hurt by DUIs and other idiotic driving around here than any kind of racing. Ron :) |
