Bush , The VFW and Vietnam
President Bush today blamed 9/11 on the fact that Americans ducked out of Vietnam................???? WOW!
|
BS Tampa... I heard the speech.
Problem is, the surge is working. Watch the libs squirm now. Mike |
What he said was ""Three decades later, there is a legitimate debate about how we got into the Vietnam War and how we left," Bush told members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, at their convention in Kansas City, Missouri.
Whatever your position in that debate, one unmistakable legacy of Vietnam is that the price of America's withdrawal was paid by millions of innocent citizens, whose agonies would add to our vocabulary new terms like 'boat people,' 're-education camps' and 'killing fields,' " the president said." ____ It's all about how we leave Iraq compared to how we left Vietnam - he doesn't want millions to die this time. Your statement is false and sounds like something a lefty would say. |
Not sure how the "surge" figures in this, or for that matter Iraq. I am just curious how someone who "elected" not to serve in Vietnam, now considers Americans who shared his position the ones who started 9/11.

Tampa,
Come on. This BS has been rehashed ad nauseam. I got drafted in '69 when I was married and had a child on the way. If anyone would have a ***** it would be me. I see nothing wrong with how he did his time. I do see a lot wrong with the people who "elected" to bail in not taking responsibility for the 3 million people they helped kill. Nothing we do will be pretty or content those who hate us. But allowing another million to be killed would haunt another generation of servicemen who have done their best to help that country out. But I do wish he'd quit f'ing up traffic here in the morning on I-670. |
BC, I could agree that the consequences of leaving Iraq will probably parallel post-Vietnam since the consequences of going to Iraq certainly parallel those on going to Vietnam..... but the rationale for how leaving Vietnam "caused" 9/11 is a little thin? A bigger concern should be what 10 or 12 or 15 tours will do to the American military.
