Help!!!!!!-read Please---now!!!!!!!!!

Some of you guys and gals who have been around here for a while know that my son has had to have several spinal surgeries to correct his scoliosis issues. He is scheduled for surgery this Monday and I received a call last night from Shriners in Philly that there is a shortage of O- and O+ at the Red Cross Blood Bank and that his surgery might have to be cancelled (we have been waiting two years for him to make it into the surgical rotation). I immediately got on the phone with the local (to the hospital) blood bank and found out it's not just an issue locally, but nation wide...So here is my plea, if you have either O- or O+ blood and have not donated in the last 6 months, I beg you to do so now, TODAY. If you are in the tri-state area of NY/NJ/PA, you can tell them it is specifically for my sons surgery this coming Monday at Shriners/Temple U Medical Center........

Again, I'm asking for everyone to help out here, does not make a difference whether you are on the east or west coast, just go out and donate......I've helped you guys out in the past with whatever I could, now it's your turn to return this favor...Not for me, but for my son and everyone else who might be in need of blood.......

I'll thank everyone in advance, I know you'll do the right thing and spread the word as well.

Sincerely,

Bill S.

Bill, They will not take my blood...too many cardiac problems.

But my thoughts are with you and your son.

I hope everything goes well.

:D

Bill,

I can't help with the blood type but I can assure you that your son will be in our prayers. I hope enough CC folks step up and help so that he can go through with his scheduled surgery. Best wishes, Earl

Folks if you can, please donate blood. It is easy, painless, and often involves cute nurses (got to put something in there to get your attention).

If you work somewhere that has an HR department, have your HR rep call the Red Cross. The Red Cross will help your company set up a donation day and will send out a mobile unit to take the blood. Having the blood-mobile on site makes donating much more convenient. Often times they'll even do things like cholesterol screening for free.

I am sorry, my Cobra brother, but they will no longer take my blood due to the meds.

All I can offer is prayers. Blood is life... and it squeezes my heart that cannot give him any.

:(

Bill,

I used to donate as often as they would take my blood but since my health problems my doctor doesn't want me doing so. I will call him Monday and see if he will allow me to do it one more time. I once had a card that I belonged to the gallon club.

Prayers and good thoughts for your son, Bill. I hope the surgery went on as scheduled yesterday, and that all went well. With plenty of blood.

oh, btw. O-, and i gave today. With my thoughts on your family. (my first time, fyi.)
keep us posted.
Sincerely,
Kristen
