The TV news is crap

I usually like watching the news but lately its been like reading the National Enquirer.
I don't want to hear about Brittany Spears, OJ Simpson or the Emmys on a prime time news program. There are so many compelling things going on in the world that are newsworthy that are not being reported on. I'm lucky that I'm so close to Canada that I can switch on the CBC and hear about things north of the border that are truly interesting. I sometimes watch Asian news programs with subtitles to find out whats happening in the Pacific Rim.
Did you know that the first time in memory that the Northern Passage shipping lane did NOT freeze over this year? Canada controls the Northern Passage and now has to restrict shipping for fear of an oil spill. Thank you for that info Canada, because it informs me about global warming and its affect on international business.
I blame Rupert Murdoch for turning network news into an episode of Entertainment Tonight. That Aussie moron is gonna be trouble. Now that he owns the Wall Street Journal, don't be surprised to see pictures of Lindsey Lohan's ankle tattoo on the front page.

Lately it's been bad? It's been bad for some time. But you don't have to watch it. Try BBC World News on PBS.

I have noticed the same hing here. It seems the news is all about the same thing that they told us a year ago.

They want to change the formula in chocolate
Britney Druggie Spears
Crock shoes get stuck in escalators
And of course the daily body count

I am telling you the news is being controlled as to what we can see.

Not one story about The US National Guard and Texas National Guard being deployed to Iraq. Not one Story about the Israeli bombings. heck they do not even report the latest marijuana crop they found anymore.

Murdoch has nothing to do with it. The main stream media has been doing it for decades. I haven't watched network news in many, many years. I only catch fox news once in awhile.

Hey? did you hear about OJ?

cobra de capell 09-19-2007 09:22 AM

Watch Fox News on Cable, unless you are a liberal.

I agree BBC World is good news coverage, and they have other interesting programs too. A lot of popular US shows are ripoffs of British programming ("The Office" is an example, as well as a bunch of home improvement and reality shows on cable).
I like CNBC for economic news, which is tied to a lot of the important news events of the day anyway.
Court TV is good during prime time, not so much during the day. I mean, who doesn't like an episode of Cops?
All the other news programs blow. The "anchormen" on these news shows are way too big for their britches. Who do they think they are? Anybody can read a teleprompter and have an opinion. Morons.

I catch bits of news. The crap that is spoon fed to the daily viewing public is more for entertainment than information.

CNN does have some good items, but every other story is about OJ or Spears or some other entertainer that I do not care about.

Just an opinion.

:D :D
