Engine conversion---assistance please----
Just for fun I have an opportunity to pick up a 1976 white RR for very little, the body and interior are find. I would like to install a 302 or 351 w/auto, I found out the RR brakes are a nightmare and need to be changed out as well.
I need as much info as possible to see it it's worth the time?. Anybody know anything about this or, know anyone who does?, or any publications available?. I checked the web and found very little except one guy who wants to do it all for $$$$$.... Thanks for any assistance..... |
this is car related; i'd put it over on All Cobra Talk or something. :)

Rat Rod!!!! :D
Yeah, probably Rolls Royce actually. |
Correct...Rolls Royce. I friend did a small block chevy conversion on a XJ6 some time back, worked well.....
|
I had an XJ6 with both the standard issue OHC 6 and the Chev 350 conversion. Sure the power increase is notable over the 6, but the car is so freakin' heavy it was still a 'slug'. :D

Not sure of any conversions, but my neighbour had the same model. Looking over it I would say the conversion will not be difficult. There is lots of room in the engine bay. Most of the suspenson components will be heavy duty as this is a heavy car. Agree that the brakes suck and need changing out. The Bentley components from a Mulsanne or Turbo R may fit without too much modification.
Either way sounds like a fun project! Andrew |
