BALCO Barry

I am very surprised that I haven't seen anything here about the developments last week concerning "BALCO" Barry Bonds.

Has everyone just written him off as a cheat? Case closed.

I don't really follow much baseball but I thought that there would be lots of comments about Barry now that his behind is probably going to end up in the slammer.

Wayne,

Around here everyone is sort of taking a wait and see attitude as he isn't well liked here. Everyone thinks that he will get off with a slap on the wrist. They had a poll on CNN I think it was the other day about what should be done and with over 200K votes in, it was 78% in favor of doing away with all of his records completely. I have been watching everything I can about it and he will continue to lie right up to the end like Pete Rose did. Of course I am biased as I never have liked him.

Howdy,

One thing to think about is......

You can take some nerdy pencil neck dork and pump him full of steroids, growth hormone, and whatever that you can think of, and if he could not hit a fast ball before the 'roids, he will not be able to hit a fast ball after the 'roids.

Pretty simple.

Sure, by being stronger, it will help you hit one farther, but you still have to be able to hit one in the first place.

Plus, since 'roids have been around for nearly 100 years, how do we know that the Babe, Mathis, etc did not use 'roids?

I'm not saying that I agree with Bonds, just that before you take away his records, or even put an "*" to anything, prove that no one else was using 'roids.

Didn't "The Babe" live on beer, hot dogs, and cigars. Athletes in his era did very little training as they relied on their natural talent to get them to the top. At least that is how I thought it worked back then.

I read an article recently that BALCO was working on a package of goodies that would make the athlete stronger, have better reflexes (be able to pull the trigger to hit that fast ball), train longer and harder, and recover from fatigue or injury more quickly. I think that there was a lot more involved in this chemistry than just making someone stronger. Obviously, the results will be much better when you begin with an elite athlete.

:)

Stengun,

Why have to prove that no one else was on roids? Then never had to prove that no one else bet on games when Pete Rose blew his career. And others have admitted they used them.

Howdy,

Even w/ Balco goodies, if you couldn't hit a fast ball before you used "goodies", you would not be able to hit a fast ball w/ goodies.

Sure, 'roids helped extend Bonds' career. He probably work not have played this year w/out Balco goodies, and he would not have broken Hank's record.

Natural talent. Very few people that have ever played the game had more natural talent then Bonds.

Pete Rose broke all kinds of MLB rules, plus local, state and federal laws by betting on baseball, and untill the last year or two, 'roids were legal for MLB players to use.

Sad part is that I'm a big Pete Rose fan, and I never cared for Barry Bonds. Even though what Pete did was wrong, I feel that it should not kepp him from being in the Hall of Fame.

No one ever proved that the Babe, Mathis, Hank or Bonds used 'roids, so what's the big deal.

Paul

P.S. No one could evr make me believe that Bonds wasn't on somethink of "goodies",

I am NOT a Barry Bonds fan.by any stretch of the imagination. But Stengun is correct. The hardest thing to do in pro sports is to hit a round obect coming at you 98 miles an hour with another round object SQUARELY.

And my major complaint is:Doesn't our court system have something better to do than worry aboutr a baseball player taking 'roids?:(

And with regards to Pete Rose-He did nothing wrong. He violated some archaic MLB rule meant to keep the Black Sox incident from happening again.Whoopty-friggin'-doo.Rose got F*&KED.plain & simple.
