Answer This Question
This is an actual question that was asked on one of the question and answer forums that I belong to.
Why can't I apply to serve time while I am young and then go out and commit my crimes later in life and I will already have paid the penalty? Only good answer I could think of is why don't you pay the price for 1st degree murder now, and if your state has the death penalty, that would save a lot of grief later on. This was asked under the Computer and Internet tech section. Ron  |
Ron
There is no cure for stupidity. Just duck and get out of the way! If that "poster" was asking a serious question, he/she should be committed now to an institution before the mass murdering begins. Dr Warren, MS, PHD, LSMFT, ETC |
Warren,
You would not believe some of the questions asked on that forum. One girl posted that she had knocked her monitor off the desk and it had hit really hard and now it wouldn't work. Did we think that it falling to the floor had broken it. And she forgot to mention that the CRT had shattered. Ron  |
They walk amongst us. And the really sad part is that they can probably reproduce! I'm starting a new political party:

Fred, I am by no means a smart person and I don't even understand a lot of the new stuff they have out, but believe me Turtle could ask more intelligent questions than some that I have seen posted. I don't go there often but some f the answers are almost as bad as the questions. They have a bad thing I believe. If you get so many points, then you move up to a level 2 tech and so on, so a lot of the people are just answering everything to gain points. I only answer those that I know about and have a fair percent of best answers. Another actual question posted by a young guy who claimed to be a computer whiz. "I have just bought a new computer and when I turn it on, the monitor just remains black." After several of us kept asking him questions, it turned out he hadn't turned the monitor on as he thought when he turned the computer on the monitor would automatically come on. Ron :) |
The shallow end of the gene pool is... shallow for a reason.
Unfortunately, it is also the most prolific. UT |

UT, Well said. That is why I don't go onto those sites much any more. I may take some of the questions and write a book. And the amount of kids posting wanting to know if there is a way to get past their schools block so they can go to the porn sites is amazing. I kind of liked the answer one of the people gave. He told them if they would spend some of their time studying, they wouldn't need to go to a porn site to learn how to do anything. And trying to get a complete question is like pulling teeth. Example, My computer won't work, what is wrong with it? Ron  |
This stupid behaviour takes me back to the change ordeal. I cannot believe how many young people can't make change. You give them something other than a simple bill, and they are confused....DUUUHHHH!

When I was down in Pasadena working, I went to the store and bought a few things. The girl at the cash register was telling me how she was going to college starting that year and just standing there. I asked her if I could have my change and she said she couldn't give it to me because they had had a power outage earlier and the digital display telling her how much to give back wasn't working yet. I told her what I needed back and she asked me how I knew that and also how I knew how many dimes & etc. was needed. I thought, boy and she is going to college, they must have lowered the entrance exams a lot since I went. Later I was over at the store and looked at the digital display. It would tell them you owe the customer , Example $3.57 back. Then it would say 3 $1 dollar bills, 2 quarters, 1 nickle, and 2 pennies. I am surprised it didn't have pictures of the money on there so they could see what a quarter was. Later I was talking to one of the supervisors that was stationed down there and he told me that was not at all uncommon. Ron  |
This is what we get for passing them on to the next grade. I am suprised some can even spell their name. As a matter of fact when I had the shop in Oakland many Mexicans had to copy off of their driver's license to fill out the work order. How the hell can they read the street signs to get a license?????????

I used to be on one of those question and answer sites, but the level of ignorance was enough to make me leave. Too many self proclaimed experts that do not know anything about the subject they claim to be experts on. I like the idea of a stupid questions book, but I think "The Dumbest Answers to the Stupidest Questions" has a nice ring to it..
I really like this picture. It sums up how I feel with some of the stuff I have read: http://yellowstang.com/images/trueblue/Howsmart.jpg |

Joe, You know what I mean about the dumb posts and questions and I really like your sketch. Now I understand how Computerworks must feel about some of the dumb questions I have asked him. I compare to him about like a caveman would to Einstein if that high. :) Ron  |
I can't take credit for it. I plagiarized it, so feel free to use it. lol to the comparison. I feel like that at times. I have been told that the first sign of intelligence is realizing that you don't really know anything. I am just a fountain of useless knowledge. I seem to remember all the crap that really doesn't matter, but no one else knows.:JEKYLHYDE

Some of the people on the one site that I still go to some times that answer questions are as bad as the ones asking them. I think that phony point system they have set up just causes them to answer anything to gain points and become a higher rated tech. I have been there for about 4 years and I think I am a 3rd level and we have some that have been there for 8 months and are 5th level. Of course they have forums for everything, not just computers so many of them are off in every forum answering things. Ron %/ |
I have never been on one of the sites that you are talking about (actually, I didn't know that they even exist) but don't forget the following. When we were kids, we respected our elders and believed that they were wiser than we were. Today, a 15 year old thinks that he/she already knows everything. The fact that many of them don't know anything is totally irrelevant to them. The smart kids still (mostly) keep their mouths shut, listen, and learn. The stupid one just keep saying more stupid stuff. Of course stupidity is not limited to the younger generation.

Joe Wicked- "A fountain of useless knowledge?"
Try the hard drive I call my brain. UT |
I know that I am not the only fountain around. And definitely not the biggest either.

I think that most of us are retarded in some ways, just as most of us have some mean streak in us but manage to keep it hidden. I must be above some on the scale as I can do math in my head and can count change without a digital display to tell me how much I should get back. Ron :) |
