Wes, No, I hadn't seen or heard anything about a long range rifle that the rotation of the planet has to be taken into consideration. The latest Sniper Rifles I have seen pictures of and read about have an effective range of about 1 1/2 miles in the hands of a good shot and they have to consider gravity. Even the short range missiles ( 100/250 miles ) don't have anything in the specs I have seen that say anything about the rotation of the Earth. But I don't get all of the latest books and papers on this stuff any more so I would guess it could be possible. My idea of using the rotation of the planet to good effect would to be an anti gravity round or shell that you could just hand in the air, point it toward the direction the Earth would be rotating the target to it, and set it to explode when the target gets there. :JEKYLHYDE Ron :rolleyes: |

Ron, My buddy reloads and has a shooting chronograph to measure bullet speed, so I consider him to be fairly knowledgeable. On the other hand, he has come up with some BS on occasion also. I don't know where he got this info. A young man, that my buddy was teaching re-loading, requested that I record a Military Channel documentary on a new .408 caliber sniper round that supposedly falls between the .50 and .308. I recorded and edited to disc, several programs on snipers ....but not a one of them had any mention of the .408. It exists though: ( .408 Chey Tac - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ). Since then, the young man has joined the army and is in Ft. Benning, GA (Basic Training) as we speak, er type. According to these TV programs, Ft. Benning is the home of a top notch sniper training center. One of the programs he specifically picked, and I recorded, is called Top Sniper and is still coming up on the TV schedule last I looked. With carefully selected re-loads, my buddy and the young man claimed to have had his ordinary light-barreled Remington bolt .30-06 down to a consistant 1 inch group at 100 yards. At any rate, I think he might be interested in applying for sniper training, down the road. ... |

I have watched a couple of documentary shows on Snipers and also listened to the interviews of the ones from Vietnam and the Gulf War. Our top Sniper in Vietnam was named Carlos. He died in 1997 I think it was from some crud he caught over there, but he has the longest verified kill on record, and it was with a 50 caliber machine gun and 1 round. Some North vietnamese General was standing on top of a mountain just over a mile away watching a fire base and Carlos took his sniper scope and mounted it on a 50 Cal. machine gun. He put 1 round in and aimed and fired. They recovered the generals body and most of his head was gone. Also the British have one of the best sniper training courses in the world. They really have to be good to even get into it. But they have so many new gadgets and arms in the testing or development state now that it is impossible to know what all is going on. Remember, when I was young our Snipers carried rocks and a sling. :LOL: Ron :o |
How about Uranus? Is that shrinking too? Does Nassa have a probe for that as well? Have they measured any assteroids to see if they are shrinking as well? I'll bet that black holes are sucking everything in, so the universe is shrinking and will soon collapse on itself in the opposite of the Big Bung.
