Is Clemens Lying Or Not

Seems to be a lot of contradictions over this latest mess.

Clemens pressed by Congress, denies accusations by Pettitte, McNamee - MLB - Yahoo! Sports

Edited To close thread. No need for more arguments.

I guess we'll know if his pants suddenly burst into flames. :D

I think he is, but one thing for sure, someone is!

bomelia 02-13-2008 01:21 PM

Well, they should be able to get dna material off of the needles and stuff. But it does look bad for the Rocket.

Trully, this is BASEBALL's fault. They knew this crap was going on and did nothing about it for a LONG time. How's a guy going to compete? If you whistle blow and nobody does anything, then you are screwed. If you don't take the drugs, then you cannot compete. Baseball has to take credit for a good part of this mess.

Bet there are a LOT of other players crapping their pants over this...If the Rocket can go down, so can they.

If he cheated then penalize him.....simple

767Jockey 02-13-2008 03:01 PM

I can't believe my government is spending my money to find out which zillionaires cheated in a game.

The worst part is that MLB still doesn't have a very serious drug testing program. If they really wanted to get drugs out of the game, they would have random drug testing, any player, any time, any where, no advance notice. If a player tests positive for anything on the list, he is out for one complete year for the first offence, and for life for a second offence.

That will never happen, of course.

I agree to a point about the Govt. wasting time and money on cleaning up a sports mess when the country is going down the hill. But after watching about an hour of that crap on TV today, maybe the country is better off with that bunch of idiots on the panel doing that than trying to pass another dumb law. Baseball made that stuff illegal in 2000 and has done little to enforce it. Like Mike said, they did little to enforce their own rules and one person can't compete with the ones using it unless they do it too. One of the politicians on the committee after listening to both Clemens and his former trainer or whatever he was who said he injected him regularly with the steroids and HGH, finally made a brilliant decision. He said, it seems to me that someone here isn't telling the truth.

IMO, McNamee has ZERO credibility. He has done nothing but lie thrugh this whole process. I don't really know why you would go this far to clear your name if it was somehting you did. But... IMHO... WHO CARES!!! Like was said above, Baseball allowed this to go on for so long! They didn't stop it why? Because it made the game better... from a viewers standpoint. To see guys doing things that are just amazing! I'm not much of a baseball fan, never have been. It's too boring to watch on tv and too far to just go to a random game from where I live. Congress should say oh well, get on with life and start doing things to help the country! What exactly will this resolve? Clements name gets taken off the list? Who cares... well besides him of course! haha Aweful lot of resources to clear 1 name!

Cobrabill 02-13-2008 07:23 PM

Clemens has too much to lose if he gets caught in a lie at this juncture.McNamee has nothing to lose if he gets caught lieing.

I read a bunch on Clemens years ago.His work ethic suggests he didn't.

But the bottom line is,tell me how this effects anyone?

casaleenie 02-13-2008 07:49 PM

Clemens is absolutely lying... Not a doubt in my mind.. or maybe not... I'm not sure...

I'm convinced that he's lying or possibly telling the truth... I'm sure of it...

I'd stake your life on it one way or the other...

bomelia 02-13-2008 08:39 PM

Nobody "knows" that Clemens is lying.

Unless they find DNA on those needles and steroids and/or HGA in them, its all BS.

Mike

PS: I heard that Casa has been breathing NOX while driving! (said with love and mucho tongue in cheek)

He doped. Pettite, sooner or later, will throw him under the bus. Funny thing though, I really don't see why everybody is so wild on this issue in general. I really don't care how much crap they put in their bodies. It's their health issue, not mine.

How many Cy Young awards? How many WS? C'mon. Cheating for a goal sucks. my oldest boy thinks Clemons hung the moon... lets hope he did not do it with a needle.

Mike (btw, I'm willing to wait for the evidence, and until, he is still the Rocket in my book, even if he did play for the phookin Yankees)

427sharpe 02-13-2008 09:17 PM

But who is to say it's cheating? Could I take some HGH and pitch a Cy Young year? He is still an incredible athlete regardless. Do you think if Ruth were alive today he wouldn't look at a way to extend his career? Does that lessen them? I just don't think so. I think it is a non-issue for everyone not putting the needle in their arm. Legalize it and play ball!

Anything Pettite says regarding Clemens will be rhetoric. And will have no bearing.

Thats pretty rough. I love the Rocket. I hope he did not cheat. But I sure pray that this does not influence the thinking of my 9 year old boy who is an exceptional athelete.

At a time when this country has a massive economic problem, illegal immigration, the war in Iraq, health insurance problems and a huge deficit ALL these guys can do is investigate steroid taking baseball players and football coaches taping other teams practices. Something is seriously wrong with this country's priorities.
