The "Wobbly Goblin" has been retired!
Also known as the F117A Night Hawk Stealth Fighter, the last four of these fighter jets made their final flight before heading off for mothballing at a desert base in Nevada.
The F22 Raptor, the next generation of stealth fighter jets, will soon be introduced into the Air Force's arsenal, if they have not already been introduced. There was an article in both the LA Times and LA's Daily News. |
The 'flying brick'? :D Seems like it wasn't that long ago when we first heard about this 'invisible' plane, and all ready it's outdated? My, how time flies...

Ernie, They have a newer UFO that they can use as a model to reverse engineer off of now. It is sad to see them just park the old planes in the desert and let them rot. After they strip all the usable stuff from them they should sell them to Iran. :) Ron :JEKYLHYDE |
There is a park in Burbank that has an F-104 Starfighter mounted on a pole, right next to the street. It gives the park a neat look, IMO!

They do have that in some other parks. The one that I was actually in and saw had an F-86 Sabre Jet from the Korean Conflict in it.
Ron :) |
I would like to have a plane on a pole in my backyard. Always liked the F-105 "Thud" fighter.

Wow, now I'm feeling old but in 1985 as a newly minted engineer I worked on the F117 and right before I left Lockheed for non-aerospace pastures in the late 80's I was the Mfg Eng on the development of the YF22-A.
Fun times for sure but oh so long ago. |
