New Sex Offender Service

Shasta County just started a new Sex Offender service where you can sign in with the Sheriff's Office and they will notify you by e-mail if any sex offenders live within the specified distance of your house or if there have been any changes in any of the ones that are there. We have a similar system online here for Collin County. There are 2 within 1/2 mile from me. 1 of which I knew about a block over. Both are indecency with a child. The one is really messed up though. He turned 18 and his (still 16 for a couple of months) girlfriend gave him oral. Her parents found out and called the police. Now he is a sex offender. They changed the law in Texas, where it is not categorized as a sex offense if they are within 2 years of each other. From my understanding, it can still be prosecuted, but it is not a "Sex Crime", if that makes any sense. Unfortunately for this guy, it came too late for him, as they did not allow the overturning of prior convictions.

A registered sex offender because he got his knob gobbled by his 16 year-old girlfriend.WOW-someone is going to end up getting killed over laws like this.

This whole "registration" thing is un-constitutional to begin with.

Believe it, it happens all the time......and they get caught up in this for less than a knobjob...

Brother-in-law is a big wheel at probation/parole and tells me stories like that all the time....lastest one was when mom and dad walked in on their precouis necking on the sofa with her boyfriend, both fully clothed, just making out....dad had him arrested and at the trial precouis testified it was consentual and they were only kissing, judge found the 16 year old guilty and now he's a registered sex offender for life...........

And to top it off, our legislature has enacted even tougher sex offender laws now.... I'm all for tough sex offender laws, but we also need to use "some" common sense.... It was a "feel good" piece of legislation and no one would vote against it and now all the politicians can beat their chest and say," look what I voted for"........
BTW; B-I-L and other law enforcement agencies were AGAINST these new laws!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The new laws that were forced into existence by activists protect guys from this. If they are within 2 years of each other, it is not a crime. I guess they figured a 19 year old shouldn't be messing with a 16 year old, but turning 18 does not immediately make it an offense. Unfortunately, the state senate did not approve the overturning of the convictions from prior cases. Once you are labeled a Sex Offender, you cannot get rid of that label no matter what is later found or changed. They are too afraid of a true Sex Offender being removed from the list and being free to live in School zones, etc...

Just wait till the rest of the world realizes that kids nowadays are having sex as early as 11 years old, and this is a common every day occurance.

Pretty soon every teen is going to be a registered sex offender before they are out of high school.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the sex offender programs. But for actual offenses, like rape, child abuse, etc.

Not sure if this is state wide in Lousiana, but it is in some cities....Brother-in-law tells me that a registered sex offender cannot live within one mile of a school-playground-day car center-church and a few other places I've forgot, in some places they literally can't find a place to live in the city which will meet these laws, so what are you going to do with your 17 year old son??????????

I'd bet next months pay, we'd all have been classified as sex offenders by the time we were 17................

For the child rapist and such, I think the firing squad is just right........

Yea, I know what you mean. The new 2 year law in TX helps that a lot. The guy who live a block over has to move since they are building a school just a few blocks away. The house is in his wife's name because of the the SO status, he has crap for credit. Since the house is not in his name at all, he can be forced to move. If his name was on the deed, he could stay, but they only have her down to save money. I know they are fighting it, and have a temporary stay, but the house is still up for sale, I don't think that they believe they will win, but are just trying to buy time to sell the house.
