Photo file size
I know that this has been asked before.
Say I have a photo file that I want to downsize to be accepted as a download on a thread. The photo size is 640x 480 and a file size of 60.8kb. I need to reduce the file size to 39.1kb. On my Corel photo shop under image there is a resize option. The print size for this photo is 8.889 wide and 6.667 in height. The pixel dimensions are 640x 480. If I reduce the print size to make the file smaller the picture in the thread is reduced. How do I maintain the picture size in the thread? |
I have Windows XP Home, I just right click the picture and and pick resize picture. I resize it to the smallest. I then put into my photo gallery. When you click on the picture in the photo gallery it will come up large on the screen. If you want to post it to a thread then right click on the large picture in the photo gallery, pick properties and copy the complete URL. Then when you start or reply to a thread you can insert it thru the "insert image" icon just above where you are typing.
When I do this I get the "HTTP" info 2 times. I just delete one of them. I guess you could just not copy the (HTTP) part when you are coping the file name. Hope this helps, Terry |
Al, size alone will not necessarily help you reach the limitation. Resolution may need to be reduced depending on the detail, color and light in the pic. The 39kb limit is extremely low so as to reduce the number of pics that are carried on the bandwidth around this place when something is attached to a post...easier on the system to put it in the Gallery and link it. You can put higher resolution pics in the Gallery and maintain quality for a 640X480, which is a good size for posting in threads. I always recommend folks download the free Adobe Photoshop Elements since it gives you the ability to do these things...I don't know about your program (it may as well).
Also note that thumbnails are used for attachments, again to protect the bandwidth. There is a sticky on All Cobra Talk to help you through a lot of this, or you can PM me or Ron. |
Thanks guys, that is very helpful!
