Since cell phones are what I do for a living, I have been sent this so many times. The way I explain it to people is like this:

A GSM cell phone will put out 1 watt at maximum power and a CDMA cell phone will put out 1/4 watt at maximum power. This means that with 4 GSM phones that are just at the outside edge of any tower and putting out the maximum power you have almost 4 watts of RF power. My Microwave is 1300 watts and it takes about 1 min on high power to start to pop popcorn. This does not even get into the frequencies involved as it does make a difference as well.
