Top 9 Olympic Comments

Here are the top nine comments made by NBC sports commentators during the last Summer Olympics that they would like to take back:

1. Weightlifting commentator: "This is Gregoriava from Bulgaria. I saw her
snatch this morning during her warm up and it was amazing."

2. Dressage commentator: "This is really a lovely horse and I speak from
personal experience since I once mounted her mother."

3. Paul Hamm, Gymnast: "I owe a lot to my parents, especially my mother and father."

4. Boxing Analyst: "Sure there have been injuries, and even some deaths in
boxing, but none of them really that serious."

5. Softball announcer: "If history repeats itself, I should think we can expect
the same thing again."

6. Basketball analyst: "He dribbles a lot and the opposition doesn't like it.
In fact you can see it all over their faces."

7. At the rowing medal ceremony: "Ah, isn't that nice, the wife of the IOC
president is hugging the cox of the British crew."

8. Soccer commentator: "Julian Dicks is everywhere. It's like they've got
eleven Dicks on the field."

LOL

where is number 9? :D

Ron61 08-24-2008 02:31 AM

Left out for the obvious reasons. Some of those people just don't know what they are saying until they get back to the studio and have it explained to them.

Ron

Funny stuff, but I went googlin' for #9 and I found this.
http://www.snopes.com/humor/lists/olympics.asp
These have been bounced around since about 1999 in varying forms, but some actually sorta happened and are quite hilarious.
BTW, the #9 comment was supposedly about Andy Roddick being successful because of something his wife does with his tennis balls before the final. Clearly bogus simply because tennis players (let alone their wives) don't have access to the balls until they actually step onto the court.

Another thread that will ride the wave of commentary.

Great job Ron!

:D :D :D

I searched for the 9th comment out of curiosity because the first 8 were funny as hell. I think the Snopes link which I stumbled upon showing that they were not made at the last Olympics as originally posted is relevant. What is your problem with that?
No frog & turtle stuff in my commentary? Nothing about Obama? Please let me know so I can serve you better in the future...

I am not sure what is going on here. The post that I made was not supposed to be all that serious as I looked at Snopes before posting it but thought it was kind of funny and the part about the last Summer Olympics I probably should have deleted also. It has been around in e-mails a few times and I just thought it was kind of funny and does somewhat describe some of the reporters and comments they make. I deleted # 9 because I wasn't sure it would fit in on this site to well. but then some of the others can also be taken in the same way. No one needs to get all excited about it as it probably should have been put in the joke thread.

Ron :)

Hey Ron, I think they were funny as H E Double Hockey Sticks**)**) and don't really care where you put them......I realize that you put them here to give us laughter and not to inform us of history...:JEKYLHYDE:JEKYLHYDE....who cares when they were said or if they are really real, they are still FUNNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:LOL::LOL:Almost as good as Warrens Motivational Poster thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:ee k::eek::eek:

Buzz 08-26-2008 07:06 AM

What's going on...

I dont give a fat rats a$$ when the bloopers actually occurred either and like everyone else who added "commentary" here, I also found them funny as hell. I watched quite a bit of the olympic coverage this year for a change, and the subject line caught my attention. I was surprised to find the Snopes thing and posted it as a FYI, along with the the info on #9. Not a rebuttal or a slam to the OP so to all you anal retentive types who feel the need to yelp about it - boo hoo hoo:CRY:.
Judging by the thousands of inane, bull$hit posts that crap all over otherwise interesting threads, I guess I shouldn't be surprised that there'd be an issue with my well intentioned, relevant (did I mention friendly, innocent and pertinent?) "commentary".
