tidbit for you f15 fans

had some guys from macdonnel douglas or whoever they are now come over from st. louis and give us a briefing on what their fighters do on test flights.

he emphasized on a speed run the need to descend into it because of the fuel burn the afterburners use and limiting flight time. anyway, afterburners can put 100,000 lbs of fuel through them in 1 hour, but these aircraft only take off with 13,000 lbs.

oh, if you thought the f18 was fast, the f15 will go almost twice as fast. don't know if i can print that. %/

anyway, thought that was kind of cool.

I like the F-15. According to published data it is faster than the F-18 - mach 2.5 vs mach 1.7 - but nowhere near twice as fast.
Now, that's unclassified, public data - the guys you spoke to may well have the real, classified scoop that us civilians aren't normally privy to.
The awesome F-14 Tomcat is also one of my all time favorite modern era fighters.

yeah, i didn't know what the published data was that's why i didn't post em, but the numbers i got were a little different and they were prob not correct either. still amazingly fast.
