I see it is signed by Teddasourous and brother Al.

I am not sure that this is accurate but will post it here. I didn't see it on Snopes but I may have used the wrong search terms. Also didn't want to start another thread for this as I am sure it has been hashed over many times.
George Bush has been in office for 7 1/2 years. The first six the economy was fine. A little over one year ago: 1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high; 2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon; 3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%. 4) The DOW JONES hit a record high--14,000 + 5) American's were buying new cars, taking cruises, vacations o'seas, living large!... But American's wanted 'CHANGE'! So, in 2006 they voted in a Democratic Congress & yep--we got 'CHANGE' all right!..... 1) Consumer confidence has plummeted ; 2) Gasoline is now over $4 a gallon & climbing!; 3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase); 4) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $12 TRILLION DOLLARS & prices still dropping; 5) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure. 6) as I write, THE DOW is probing another low~~11,300--$2.5 TRILLION DOLLARS HAS EVAPORATED FROM THEIR STOCKS, BONDS & MUTUAL FUNDS INVESTMENT PORTFOLIOS! YEP , IN 2006 AMERICA VOTED FOR CHANGE!...AND WE SURE AS HELL GOT IT!!!....NOW 'BO', the DEM'S CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT--AND THE POLLS SAY HE'S GONNA BE 'THE MAN'--CLAIMS HE'S GONNA REALLY GIVE US CHANGE!!....JUST HOW MUCH MORE 'CHANGE' DO YA THINK YOU CAN STAND???..... Ron  |

With this kind of backwards (backwoods?) thinking, no wonder so many people are looking to embrace some kind of change. Any change will do - even to the point of embracing a fast talking slickster like Obama - because younger, better educated people with a more worldly set of thought patterns are sick of this sort of jurassic drivel and xenophobic puke. Ironically, BTW, the Cuba thing is actually relevant to this argument. Castro is no saint, but the situation in Cuba under the Batista dictatorship was far less desirable for the average Cuban than it is now. The people who enjoyed and supported that corrupt, Mafia run despotism unwittingly contributed to the desperate desire of the silent majority for change. That paved the way for a groundswell of popular support for a charismatic opportunist like Castro. The xenophobic dinosaurs of today are alienating and disappointing the inspiration-hungry younger generation with the sort of BS in the last post and, likewise, unwittingly rolling out the red carpet for a keen-eyed, silver-tongued salesman like Obama. If you really want to save your culture and protect your way of life from the evil new messiah (and rescue all those teary-eyed white women:rolleyes:) , you can start by trying to at least appear a little bit intelligent and give your younger generation (and womenfolk) something they can look up to and respect. |
Well said Buzz.
Obama is only doing as well as he is because the 'experienced' politicians are pretty much corrupt. It also does not hurt Obama that Bush has been a disaster. Ron, you forgot to add that the last 8 years have had the highest spending (and contribution to the deficit) ever. Trying to pin it all on the DNC is wrong, though they have gone along for the ride. The price of oil (and gas as a result) is up because the value of the dollar has gone down. The dollar is down because the government has (for the last 6-7 years) been spending and printing. There are other reasons as well, but this is one of the larger ones. Also, the reason the economy was doing 'well' was because idiots were tapping into the value of their houses to go buy everything they could. The GOP did nothing to stop it (and I'm not keen on legislating against stupidity anyway) while it was happening, and now it is too late to do much except try to mitigate the damage. |
The banks and their investors with the 'go ahead and loan at 100% of appraised value' is one culprit, the other was no one had any control over the oil situation as the 'speculators' factored in the proposed India/China consumption, plus no drilling in the good old USA and saw the perfect opportunity to make moola. Homeowner stupity is correct and that's not the governments job to micro managed every homeowner. As for bush, I'll gladly accept the fact we have not suffered a terrorist attack since 9/11.

In all likelihood, there has not been a terrorist attack since 9/11 regardless of who the President was.

Steve, I never forgot to add that as I never wrote the article. As for the deficit increasing, name the last of your favorite presidents that actually lowered it. So far as it increasing at record levels, so does your cost of living and everything else. You can't compare the prices of things today with what they were 40 years ago. I don't like it either but it is a fact of life and I don't see anything getting lower priced in the future. I cut back as much as I can every year on my spending and every year I spend more than I have ever spent before. That is another reason, (Not Politics), that I don't like to see them harp about sports records being broken by the amount of money some athlete wins or makes now. They can win one event and win more money than the ones in the past could win in a year. If you have the solution for everything, why not post it. I know that I for sure would back you if you can solve all the problems we and the country now face and will be facing for the rest of our lives. Just out of curiosity, how much have you lowered your own cost of living over the past 8 years? :) Ron :p |

Warren, I cut the amount of spending below what it was while I was working, but the cost of things that I have to still buy has not gone down any at all. And I am not supporting programs for illegals either. I haven't cut my amount in half as you did because I never spent a lot while I was working and now with the price increases that has closed the gap a lot. Ron |
