I love it, even though it only last a short time here in Georgia, I did catch a guy at the gas station hauling pheasant from Kansas to a hunting preserve down the road. With my slick 'get-her-done' oratorical finesse, I managed to talk him out 2......that and $50.

Excaliber 09-16-2008 04:37 PM

Aint this special! Killing Bambi is the one thing that's able to reach across party lines and unite us all, well, that and Cobras. Is this a great country or what?

BeanCounter 09-17-2008 06:15 AM

Ernie,

My family came to Kansas in 1867. My grandfather was born there in '73 and raised setters for over 60 years. I got my first shotgun when I was 7 years old and have been hunting ever since. It's our heritage. That's why I get a little miffed when the "pompous" PETA/ALF group start disparaging our heritage. We don't force them to hunt, we understand it would cut into their time of burning down things and threatening scientist's families, so they should leave us alone too. I wonder if Glyn is a vegan?

Ron61 09-17-2008 06:22 AM

Bernie,

Like you I grew up with guns and hunting. I was born in the Ozarks when there were very few people living there. My Father started teaching me to shoot and gun safety while I was so small he had to help me hold the heavier rifles. I spent much of my younger years hunting everything from squirrels to mule deer. Guess that is why I get so upset about the anti gun crap.

Ron

LOL...hell NO...My father was in the meat import trade for all his life, so I grew up on steak! LOVE it...just don't like killing things FOR FUN...:) But you're right, it's a cultural thing...Europeans will never understand why you like to kill things, and you'll never understand why we can't figure it out!

392cobra 09-17-2008 07:53 AM

PW (:)),
The vast majority of hunters eat what they kill. You are eating the animal without killing it yourself, that's the only difference.

BeanCounter 09-17-2008 08:55 AM

PW,

I'd much rather be eating all natural wild game than I would all of that antibiotic shot up, corporate farm produced crap you're eating. I even raise my own cattle and then trade part for farm raised pork. I'm convinced that what you're eating is causing delusional thinking and turning you into an extreme liberal automoton.

Also it's not just fun, I'll bet if I take you out you'd be whining in the first two hours of traipsing across the Flint Hills. First of all you're probably burning more calories than you're putting in your game bag so it would be much healthier for you.

I'd be happy to send you a couple of quail and pheasants and a few corn fed steaks just to see if it clears your thinking up. :3DSMILE:

Also have you ever given thought to the hypocracy of having someone else do your killing for you?

VRM 09-17-2008 09:31 AM

Bernie,
I don't agree with the 'doing something because it is your heritage' argument. Canibalism is a heritage for some people in this world.

However, everything else is right on target;).

We have turkey and deer up my way, and I fish when I can as well. Sushi is the best when you catch it yourself and eat it right on the boat. I really wanted to bring my knife with me when I went to Hawaii a couple of years ago, but something about airline regulations...
And lobsters are better when you dive for them yourself, rather than buy those pathetic starving lifeless ones at the grocery store.

I have always said that you should know how to grow/hunt/kill/gut everything that you eat, and I try to practise it when I can.

Steve

BeanCounter 09-17-2008 09:59 AM

Steve,

So I take it you have something against cannibals? :3DSMILE:

I thought a true Libertarian like you would just let bygones be bygones and not interfere with their "heritage".

Of course unless you're the second course. :)

Excaliber 09-17-2008 11:20 AM

Capell, that one's over the line and clearly into the racist category, please edit or remove it.

I would interfere if the main course was not a willing participant.

Anything funny about O'Bama can be interpreted as being racist.

To me, it's still just plain funny!

Cartoons of Sarah Palin in hunting togs or portrayed as a pit bull are not seen as sexist.

Lighten up will ya! The fact is, he's black and she's a woman. Better learn to live with it!

Excaliber 09-17-2008 01:04 PM

Why don't you just call him a ni-gger if you think it's so funny?

Buggering white trash cracker.

Lighten up? Get a phucking clue.

427 S/O 09-17-2008 01:26 PM

Oh, ernie, don't even attempt to take the high road, your the first to post that verbage on CC. and shame on you.

jhv48 09-17-2008 01:27 PM

Funny, that word never crossed my mind.

Me thinks we flushed out a closet racist!

That would explain everything!

computerworks 09-17-2008 01:29 PM

There are boundaries...even in the Lounge.

Racial references are certainly one of them.

Talk about issues...lay off personal insults to other members..
... or find a new home.

thanks

Man you guys are seriously screwed up if you find humor in that picture. It is a CLEAR racial referrence.

392cobra 09-17-2008 01:30 PM

I really like the "Point box towards Mecca for tastier waffles".:LOL:

Excaliber 09-17-2008 01:32 PM

I'll find a new home, I won't continue to support a site that tolerates racsism.

Leaving that picture up is the last draw for me Ron, I'm ashamed to be associated with a group that would allow it's use.

jhv48 09-17-2008 01:32 PM

Youi're poking the bear with a stick again!:D
