Dems stop oil and gas drilling
70% of Americans want oil/gas drilling NOW! and the dumb a$$ dems approved a bill that, for all intents and purposes, says NO to drilling.
This will cost then dearly............... http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122161650517646313.html |
This has nothing to do with energy or the need for oil. It is based on how many votes will I lose if I vote for it. Pelosi is only interested in keeping her job as speaker of the House. Just another propaganda bit to make the people think they tried and couldn't because of the environmental groups INMHO.
Maybe they need to send the group of Hells Angles that attended that funeral in the Bay Area to Washington to speak with the environmental groups. Ron |
Correct Ron, I hope the people stand up and let them, 'good for nothings' know 'there WILL be drilling'. I have, in phone calls and emails.

Yawn! Go ahead and call. Let me try to explain this to you. Our oil industry is NOT nationalized, so any oil that gets drilled in the U.S. gets put on the open market. Granted most of it stays here, but the price of crude won't magically drop because they are drilling in your back yard. We've recently seen that supply doesn't necessarily equal price in the fact that we have had plenty of oil on the market, but the price per barrel was still skyrocketing. Look what happened in the last few days. Gas is now $4.00/gal, and crude was around $92/barrel.
I'm not against drilling, but if you whiners think that drilling is going to magically bring the price down to $.30/gal, you are kidding yourselves. |
My plan would be to not produce any oil in North America at the present time. Buy 100% of the oil required from the middle east for the next xxx years until it is all gone. Then let them chase each other around the desert on camels (some would say turn the sand in the whole region into one big chunk of glass). That would leave time to develop true energy alternative and lots of North American oil for our grand children and future generations while the Arabs try to figure out how to burn sand in their old Rolls Royces.:eek::eek:

I never saw anything in the above posts including mine that even hinted that anyone expects the price of gas to magically drop. It is well know that if they started drilling tomorrow it would take years for any real impact on the market so far as price goes. Since you seem to read whatever you want into any post why don't you use your intelligence to come up with solutions instead of this type of stuff? Ron |

Ike knocked 20% of out oil refiniers off line. So,tankers full of oil sit off shore not able to get in to off load AND the refiniers are still shut down to make gas from oil. DUH. We need more refiniers anyway Plus more drilling. This about our independance and our future. Not the price of gas tomorrow. DUH. All the oil in the world will do nothing when we don't have the oil refiniers to convert the oil to gas. RE:IKE. DUH. |

I think they do. Re:Why save, tomorrow never comes.etc.,etc.. Their Mama's never told them the story of the Ant & The Grasshopper.%/ |

And, therein lies the most basic honesty, the simplest truth of all. OUR POLITICIANS NEVER LOOK TO THE LONG TERM - NEVER! Everything, every decision is about tomorrow - literally. And Dems/liberals are the worst, because their Chicken Little mentality precludes them from ever thinking about the long term. All there is for them is now, now, now! Pathetic, really. |
And the neo cons believe the rapture is a viable solution to any problems we may be causing our environment. Now that's short sited, let's get real hear, we can do better than this, the oil companies have no desire to drill, they have the leases on 36 million acres most of that is off shore and they have the permits, they also have their buddies in the administration having there drug induced orgies with the oil companies, and they have certainly had enough money to build new refineries. So what's your point in all this, except to carry on the devicivnes, at least the dems are looking to alternative fuels and not blocking legislation to encourage alternative energy sources.

i dunno everthing just seems to sound like charlie browns parents.....
wha, wha ,wha, wha, wha, wha, bush, wha, wha, haliburton, wha, wha, bible, wha, wha, wha, wha, there are the talking points of the day. no need to thank me. |
Getem' Ron, price wasn't mentioned in my post as well. We need it all except that ethanol BS, which requires almost as much energy to make, as it produces. This retreat in oil prices might not last long so, we need to get cranked up ASAP on drilling and alternatives.

I have been looking at alternative energy as far as transportation goes and the only options for the new future are cng and biodiesel.
Cng's problem is not much as far as stations go only about 800 in the country. Biodiesel: not enough people want to drive a diesel and the gelling problem(easy fix w/heaters) at cold temps. Ethanol: We can't grow enough sugarcane here in the states. Fuel Cells: at least 5yrs but more like 10 or 15 yrs off and no infustructure for hydrogen. So I say drill drill drill drill Stuart |
