Ron,
What about Barney Fwank?
Roscoe

Ron61 09-29-2008 06:57 AM

Roscoe,

Though I realize this is no more to be believed as the actual full truth than any other media report, it is just one of many things that I have seen about him that makesmewish he was out of the Govt.

His name is "Bwarney Fwanks". Get it right. He will go down in history as the pilot of the "2008 Economic Crisis". He takes lessons from the "K kids", Cash and Carry John "Do You Know Who I Am" Kerry and Tedasaurus Kennedy. Boy, us Taxachusettens have a lot to be proud of in recent years.

Warren,

Boy, us Taxachusettens have a lot to be proud of in recent years.

That you do. Now you are going to have to look hard for a replacement for Teddy. One requirement must be that he is able to drive off into water and leave a woman in the car. :3DSMILE:

“Much of that mess [in the financial markets] is due to the very people we are now turning to for solutions—members of Congress. Past Congresses created the hybrid financial institutions known as Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, private institutions with government backing and political influence. About half of the mortgages in this country are backed by these two institutions. Such institutions—exempt from laws that apply to other financial institutions and backed by the implicit promise of government support with the taxpayers’ money—are an open invitation to risky behavior. When these risks blew up in their faces, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were taken over by the government, costing the taxpayers billions of dollars. For years the Wall Street Journal has been warning that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were taking reckless chances but liberal Democrats especially have pooh-poohed the dangers. Back in 2002, the Wall Street Journal said: ‘The time for the political system to focus on Fannie and Fred isn’t when we have a housing crisis; by then it will be too late.’ The hybrid public-and-private nature of these financial giants amounts to ‘privatizing profit and socializing risk,’ since taxpayers get stuck with the tab when high-risk finances don’t work out... Both Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac have been generous in their contributions to politicians’ political campaigns, so it is perhaps not surprising that politicians have been generous to them. This is certainly part of ‘the mess in Washington’ that Barack Obama talks about. But don’t expect him to clean it up. Franklin Raines, who made mega-millions for himself while mismanaging Fannie Mae into a financial disaster, is one of Obama’s advisers.” —Thomas Sowell

Howdy,

Wow.

Gee Wiz!!

Boy-O-Boy-O-Boy.

How, with the Repubs in charge of Congress for the 10 of the last 12 years, and the Repubs in charge of the WH for the last 8 years, and the Repubs being in charge of the SC for the past 6 or so years, and Chaney, Halliburton and BIG OIL calling the shots on everything that has happened in the past 8 years, is everything that went bad the Liberals and the Democrats fault?

A bunch of uninformed, limited minded, narrow minded, right-wing, Sunday Morning Christians might believe this, but the mass majority of the voting American population does not believe that the current situation is the Dems fault. They believe that it is the Repubs fault. 100%. Period. End of story.

Have a nice day.

Paul

Yeah...here we are months later and more of the real story is coming out. How the Bush Adm. basically put a halt to any new legislation designed to stop this mess.

Face it...ALL our politicians are involved. They were all getting their wallets padded by their respective donors and here the taxpayers are left bailing everybody out.

In October of 2007, the Dow average was above 14,000; Democrats took control of Congress in 2007. In October of 2008, the Dow was struggling to hang onto an index of 8000; and Democrats were still in control.

100%. Period. End of story.

I can see how this thread is going to end.

"Closed"

:D :D

turnpike boy 12-07-2008 11:04 AM

Yeah, probably. Also probably not a bad thing. :)

stuartb 12-07-2008 11:25 AM

It is all of the politicians fault, and ours for electing them to office!!!! But you have to go back to the Clinton years when this all started. The theory that was inacted that everyone should be a home owner is rediculous. The lack of some having what others have and striving to get what others have is what makes this country great.

turnpike boy 12-07-2008 11:36 AM

 Well, once upon a time, anyway. These days, can't even have winners and losers with kids' soccer games.....might screw up their self-esteem. Lord knows we can't oppress any part of our society - how would they feel good about themselves if we did?

Fred Douglass 12-07-2008 12:06 PM

Krikeys! Everyone's blamin'....

..me and this broad named "Fanny" (who I didn't even know!).....WhaddidIdo?

P.S. I can say Warren, that it's Bawnie Fwank (no "s') and (as I've said innumerable times before) that PLICK twied to fwow me out of college. Appropriately, I DID have the first potato streaking (RPG-like) towards his fat head when the lights went out in 1967(?) in Winthrop House dorm (wherein, as I've said before, resided also TLJ and his foo keen room-mate, Al ["The Tree"] Gore). Krikeys, it's amazing I got outta that place with my right wing-nut still screwed down tight!!!

What can you say about a state (and a college, for that matter) that supports, lionizes and rolls at the knees of the likes of Uncle Teddie, Bawnie Fwank, etc.?

Ar-ar-ar-ooooooooGAH!!!!!!!!!!

Jamo 12-07-2008 12:11 PM

No worries, Freddie...we're here to save you everydamnday. :p

Roscoe 12-07-2008 05:18 PM

Ar-ar-ar-ooooooooGAH!!!!!!!!!!

Semi-small world Freddie.

I went to High School with TLJ. At that time,Pre-"Tree",he was very much a Conservative. Helluva nice guy too.

How come you didn't save him from that moron Al ?:)

Fred Douglass 12-07-2008 06:06 PM

He was.......

........in the class behind me. When I saw "St. Mark's School" in the Hanoi U. freshman register, I thought it was referring to a veddy-veddy exclusive Prep(pie) Skoo in central-south Massachusetts!

Since he was a freshman (class of '69) he was a year behind me (I was '68). I only played freshman ball (Fall of '64)---whereas TLJ went on to considerable glory, blocking for a true titan named Vic Gatto. Of special note was THE most famous GAME of all----the 1968 Hanoi-Yale Game. Gatto scored with 00:00 on the clock---Hahvud was allowed a point after attempt, went for two and "won" 29-29. Ar-ar. Carm Cozza (Yale coach) said it was "the worst loss he ever suffered". Having gradiated the precvious Spring, I was standing up in the stands, getting spat on, 'cuz I was wearing a Naval OCS uni.

My everlasting, indelible record (never broken as far as I know) was set during the 1964 Hanoi-Dartmouth (freshman) game: I was assessed three (count'em 3!) 15-yard penalties, the last being a Game Ejection. Even got a letter fro AD 'Dolph Zamborski on that one. O'course, being firmly in the grip o' Demon Rum the following day, while watching Hanoi get HUMILIATED by Dartmouf 48-0 in Hanoi's first televised game (Ken Coleman behind the mike)----I decided to rip out of the stands, and kidnap Wahoo-Wah (Dartmouth's Indian mascot). THAT episode led to my interview with Bawney Fwank. Had that c-s-er succeeded in expelling me, it woulda been 'Nam in6 weeks! Yippa daing!

Carrion.

Fly to Hawai'i tomorrow! Keee---kkkeee---rist!

Jamo 12-07-2008 06:11 PM

So, "Bluto" was based on you?

392cobra 12-07-2008 06:15 PM

TLJ was pretty amazing Soccer,Football and Track. He is one of those guys that is just a natural.

Was that the only game you got thrown out of ? Bound to be more.

Was BF a student ? If so,why would he be interviewing you ?

Fred Douglass 12-07-2008 06:19 PM

Spelling error, Jamoooooo!

I wuz "Blotto" during the infamous Wahoo-Wah incident.

BTW Hanoi Freshperson Foo-baw was unique in the Ivies----we were direct-snap single-wing. I wuz left wingback ("left"? how inappropriate!) as well as right cornerback. It was in the latter role that I attempted to decapitate the Fartmouf running back via a well-executed "bulldogging" maneuver. This led to loss of helmet (his head was still attached to his body, unfortunately) profuse bleeding (on his part) and a prolonged and lively discussion with the field-judge. Koo.

I played a total of three games, didn't letter and missed the photo. Whatta career!

Oh, and guess how much Bawney Fwank wuvved foobaw?
