Would you know if the population in Ca. is growing/stable or declining ?

stuartb 11-16-2008 07:50 AM

Last I heard it was growing due to imigration.

wtm442 11-16-2008 08:35 AM

No, the California population is VERY unstable. Just ask Nancy Pelosi.

Yes,"stable" was a bad choice of words.%/

Even if you do not count the illegal aliens and migrant farm workers, the population of Calif is growing. Hopefully the excessive weight will help it slide into the Pacific and make my land in Nevada waterfront.

Fred,

It seems to depend on what report that you read. Many immigrants are leaving because of no work as are others. One report said that for the first time in many years the population of the state declined while another says it has grown. I know around here it has remained pretty stable with a small loss. The number of students enrolled in the schools is down and they said that was because of the loss of jobs and people moving away. But we are so spread out up here that it is hard to really notice except for the empty store buildings.

The reason I ask is with all the major problems,it would seem to the outsider that the cons out weight the pros.

I've seen the house prices skyrocket along the Texas Coastal Bend where my beachhouse is.They started really jumping about 6 years ago when the influx of folks from Ca started relocating/retiring there.

They all commented that they were getting 2-3 times the size house for a fraction of what they sold their house in Ca for.Bigger better house with big bucks in the bank for retirement.

Of course the local people wanting to get a second home there are having a difficult time with the increases.

Well right now the housing market here isn't anything to get excited about either. They just aren't selling and people don't want to take a loss on the houses they gave 4 times what they were worth for.

Hey guys,

Just walking through the Lounge here, and saw this one about water supplies. Very important subject to us Bermudians, living out here on 20 sq miles of coral island. For 399 years (celebrate our 400th in 09), we have been building cisterns in the limestone (instead of a basement), beneath the house. No air polutiuon, no freezing conditions out here. I have storage for 55000 gallons under my house. We can chat about this if you wish. I am in construction, so I am genned up on the subject.

[quote=Ron61 Also they announced that due to the limited water, some of the fruit and nuts were not going to be as good as usual. Ron[/QUOTE]

So now the people are going to be bad on account of not enough rainfall???

Bill,

When I posted that I wondered which one of you would jump on that part of it first. I really don't think the water or lack of such has anything to do with the walking, talking fruits and nuts in this state. In fact I believe it has now reached a point where they could declare the state a zoo and it would be correct.

Send us all of your gays, loonies, and every other nut cake.

When I lived in Ca. [SF Bay area] it was known as the "Granola State."
As in, "What ain't fruits or nuts, is flakes!"
